I am not particularily religious but I strongly believe in God. I find that in faith one can truly be themselves as sexual orientation is a way inwhich we express our selves. Having a sense of a higher power allows one reasurence that they are not along, whether this power is accepting of ones views or not it none the less exists and allows us to feel as if some one cares enough to assess our lives. I was born a catholic but do not consider my self part of any religious group. I donot wish to be part of any body inwhich injustice and inequality are present, whether it be predjudice to homosexuality, gender or disregard to other peoples faiths with retrospect to other religions who do not worship the same god. In history such religious faiths have gone to war on the principal of different religious backgrounds and i do not wish to be part of that legacy. As for the question if christianity and homosexuality can coincide i believe yes as if one truely has faith they in them selves become one entity who coresponds to God. We just have to realise that faith is a path we choose and our path is irrelevant to others paths.

I am now living in a christian group home and I just happen to be a lesbian. Well where I live, the house, and the town all together does not think thats the rite way to live. Living at a christian group home you HAVE to go to church. SO I went to church a few times, and then started to ask about things. I asked GOD for his help, I aplogized for all of the bad shit I'd done, and when it was all done & over I thought I had no more tears to cry.... until this woman that didn't really know me came up to me and said your going to hell your not doing what GOD wants you to do you can't be saved your a lesbian so yeah idk whats going on with me now I want to go to heaven I believe in GOD, but it's so hard to do so when everyone is telling me you can't be gay & be a christian at the same time lol idk.....

Yeah it is possible for the two to exist. If you want to be a good christian you cannot be living a life having sex and doing drugs with everyone. You have to keep in mind that that lifestyle is sinful under the eyes of God.

Eh, I don't fully understand how you can be gay AND Christian... I know that you CAN, but in the bible, does it not say that homosexuality is an abomination?(not in those exact words mind you) If so, how could you fellow gays out there subject yourself to something that is against you? I don't know, it just all seems really hypocritical and fishy to me. But hell, if you want to be Christian, that's fine with me, it doesn't make you less of a person because you're with a religion I just cannot have sympathy for.

If I were still an atheist or agnostic I would point out quickly that Christianity is a plague upon homosexuals.. Now that I am a christian I know better . I believe 100% that Jesus was God in the flesh who came down to die for us sinners and place his precious blood as atonement on the mercy seat before God Almighty, and there is NO way to Heaven without accepting Jesus into your heart and REPENTING(That is to turn away from Sin). ( I can see the atheists or other believers sharpening their knifes ) . I also believe only in the King James Bible as being infallible and the only reliable scripture since every bible produced has omited many if not thousands of key words and sentences. Now here comes the interesting part! If you REALLY study the bible, as in having to know greek, latin, and hebrew to back up scriptures with manuscripts, you will come to the often mind-boggling conclusion for many christians that homosexuality is NOT a sin, again I say this, Being Gay is not a sin nor does it condemn you to hell! Please send me a message if you are interested in this FACT or simply want to be enlightened about my faith and why I am no longer a devout Atheist.

If you believe in King James or earlier you should know Jesus had boobs, because he was highly influenced by Horus from Egyptian mythology, and ancient mythology was totally sexed-up. Most Christians today prefer white/asexual/never-touched-the-slime-we-call-earth Jesus; I think you can read about him in the George Bush Version. If this god's real he needs to get his head out of the clouds.
On the flip side I think believing in any God doesn't have to be synonymous with bigotry, but if you're a Christian you should realize that different people wrote different parts of the bible and Old White Conservatives were the ones who made the finishing touches; so a grain of salt.

Post edited by: Steely Dan, at: 2007/11/03 09:14

In my opinion, no. But my opinion doesn't count because people can interpret religious texts how they want, and at the end of the day, that is what religion is there for; so people can twist and warp its original connotations to match what suits them better.
Something I brought up in a myspace group;
QUOTE: But still, even if the OT preached against sodomy as it was considered as "lust", that is still homophobic, to claim that we are who we are merely because we do not wish to "control" ourselves and act like "civil" heterosexual members of the community.
"...be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolators, nor adulterers, nor effeminate (homosexuals), ...shall inherit the kingdom of God."
1 Corinthians. 6:9-10
"And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was met."
Romans 1:27
"Who knowing the judgment of God, that they [homosexuals] which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."
Romans 1:32
Still, the gay Christians I know, and my other Christian friends are great people. There is no doubt though that the bible is homophobic.
