Its naive to think you can change a person. People never change. By far and away the largest group of the prison population are re-offenders. They are a drain on society. Capital punishement should be reserved for murderers and terrorists.

True, it's difficult to change a person, but nevertheless, people undoubtedly change by their own choosing. You can't tell a content murderer not to kill; if he's happy with what he did, then he's just never going to change. But a youth that got caught up in a gang war and weasled under peer pressure until he did a stabbing that unintentionally proved fatal. Perhaps he has room for change?

Would you tell me you've never made a mistake or done wrong that you've learnt from?

Capital punishment is statistically proven to act no more of a deterrent than life sentence
and.. life sentence allows those who didnt mean to murder a chance to reform.. some people do reform.. like.. when they have a family they realise how stupid they were in the past.. and others have plenty of time top reflect..
and if they do reoofend.. then.. sureeee punish them in another way..
i've been doing RE revision for gcses.. heh.. crime and punishment is one of them.. lol (:
puts forward quality of life arguement to religion people..
also puts forward anctity of life arguement..
lol (:
dossss

If I had to choose between life sentence and death I'd take death. Prison sucks.

I just read a book on the death penalty!
Jodi Picoult - Change of Heart.
The death row inmate wanted to donate his heart to his victims daughter. It was really nice, albeit written for women. Although I was never in favour of the death penalty, Change of Heart reminded me of the fact.

Re:Death Penalty 7 Months ago
Right not sure if this has been said yet (probably not) i skipped page 2 because i'm tired and i can't be bothered reading it but anyway I do think the death penalty is a bit extreme. my sisters like doing some psychology thing on pedophiles in university and her books (i like to read them a lot they're really good) said something about like pedophilia is like a mental illness or something (not that sure really i didn't really want to sit and study pedophilia) but if thats true then its like killing someone with a permanent mental illness (sorta, don't hate me if you don't agree)... imagine you're like in early adolescence and you're just starting to develop feelings for the people your age (opposite sex/same sex) whatever and you have some kind of.. "incident".. and you never move on from those feelings even as you got older, so you had feelings for people that age group and you were like... stuck, and then it sorta escalates from there. I'm not saying that this is the root of all pedophiles and for once i don't have anything more to say lol

If you are to believe what the authorities on psychology have to say about paedophilia, you might as well think what they thought back in the '60s about homosexuality. Actually, you do. The 'knowledge' of the unknown with paedophilia arises from the same morally biased views that perverted 'knowledge' of the unknown of homosexuality before the courts begun to rule against it's discrimination.

I would ask your sister what biological breakthroughs they've found since then that clearly and legibly identifies the root cause of alternative sexualities like homosexuality, paedophilia, zoophilia (and the list goes on). Unfortunately, as she is a psychologist, I'd most likely get a wishy-washy answer that loosely cites data that was poorly recorded from the criminal population of the sexual sub-group; oh, and she might also throw in a little theory of her own about, well, childhood abuse. Afterall, childhood abuse was apparently the reason for homosexuals for all these years.

Well first of all i don't want to get into a big argument about this, and second of all i don't think anything like that. you've got the wrong end of the stick about what i said but i don't think anyone should be put to death. and as i said i'm not gonna turn this into an argument because every time i say something like this at school the twats there (who don't know nearly as much as you do imagine how frustrating that is) start arguments but thats different mainly because they hate me (i don't know why, they seem to think they know me) but all that said 1) my sister ISN'T a psychologist, 2) she's probably smarter than you and 3) who the hell are you to think you know people.
Its people like you who go around looking for fights and arguments that make the world crap for everyone else. and if you wanna talk about homosexual prejudice, don't get me started pal, i've had so much crap about that and i've not even come out yet (long story). you're obviously pissed off about all that shit in the 60's so much so that you take it out on people like me who weren't aware of that you could've said it politely but no you had to be rude. i just realised, you're gonna read this, get pissed off (again) and start an argument which is why if you type a nasty comment on here it will be a waste of your time because i'm not gonna read this thread again, if you send me any pms i'm not gonna read them, hell i don't even care if you right something that'll embarrass me because i get the be the big one and walk away
now why don't you go and do something productive with your time and go felate someone for money
Danny

Until there's a system that can be 100 % right 100 % of the time then we can't have the death penalty. And America's law's just stupid Not so long ago being gay was a crime, so people would've said that was worth the death penalty (I don't know whether it was like Anyway that's my view (: No death penalty

I don't care if the person in question is a rapist down the street or Osama Bin Laden; "eye for an eye" is not the way to go, for it does indeed lead to "the whole world being blind."

I know that some people out there have done some really shitty stuff and deserve all the hatred they get (*COUGH* Bush * COUGH*), but no one has the right to play God (forgive an unbeliever for the analogy) with the lives of others. Lock them up and throw away the key, but commiting murder in the name of justice is still murder.
