I don't know if anyone else feels this way but i am so afraid of relationships because i am afraid that someone will come and whisper sweet nothings into my ear, sweep me off my feet and leave me broken hearted. That is why i can't accept a compliment without not believing it, does anyone else have this fear, and is there any advice?

I understand you completely. I just had the same stuff with my bf. Here is my advice, from an personal recent experience. When you find the right person, you'll give him your trust. When you find the one you love, believe me...you'll know. It smacked me in the face like a shovel.
judge accordingly, dont give your heart to someone who will break it. live your life, dont live in denial. be optimistic and go for it. You will know the time is right, its butterflies, its tingly and you will definitely know that 'Thats the feeling!'
