all boys schools can be tricky because you will face the steriotype of all boys schools turn you gay but there is something you do need to remember you wont last 3 years and in the end you will regret the time you could have been living your life

As far as things go, I'm pretty closeted. My parents know, some, *some* of my friends do. Very few people in my college do, and then there's everyone else. And I have a perfectly good time.

Apawl92, you're 15. Kind of an 'ish' age as to coming out. It's really your choice.. you could try being tactical and seeing what people think in your school. Then judge whether you wanna come out, or not.

I came out to school and told all my friend on the swim team and most of them did not mind at all. I did not care about if everyone in school knew or not i just wanted the people closest to me to know and they where all fine with it.

Yep. I go to an all boys school. A rich, elitist one, you know the type.

I came out at the end of year 10 when I was 15, and honestly the reaction has been pretty damn good. It hasn't been an issue with anyone really.

The only thing I dislike is the distinct feeling of a lack of support.

Private, all boys schools are usually for the more educated and therefore more understanding. As we all know the way to beat homophobia is through learning. People are scared of what they don't understand. With this its just putting one and one together.

Private school = Better educated and hence more accepting.

I guess it is expected to face homophobia seeing as the majority of people are going to be straight, but thats just like the real world as a whole.

People are much more accepting then some would have you think.

I go to an all boys school and I am thoroughly out now. It is definitely a trick one. I'm currently in year 10 and sexuality is such a big topic I notice that comes up daily when I look around the school. Not saying it gets discussed properly most of the time as it doesn't and a lot of homophobic behavouir goes on but I think I've been pretty lucky.

I'd say depending on the type of people in your school... would it be worth it? Do you have friends you can rely on? And how is homosexuality general taken in your school.

PS: I got the confidence to cope with it from my youth mentor/councillor. Don't think they have them in ever school but some can be helpful.

Honestly the extent of homophobia i get is minor to say the most. and thats just cus im in form full of idiots, other than that 99.99% of the school dont really mind.

But on the negatives, because there are some, Boys tend to ask alot of...inappropriate questions, but thats about it,

Several people even told me how brave i was to come out, i didnt do it to be brave but i suppose it helped my coming out.

I dont know what the students in your school are like, and i suppose my view is bias cus the schools low on homophobia and it was all dandy for me, but if you feel like you can do it, do it

Last night just reaffirmed how glad I am I came out at my all-boys school

I went to a mates party and there was this guy from another school, and somehow the conversation turned to me being gay and this kid said gay people should be shot.

And then the biggest jock from my school said he would beaat the shit out of him if he was like that. It was totally unexpected. The straightest, most jock guy at my school was defending me.

He then went on and was saying how brave I was to come out and how he has heaps of respect for me.

Fuck it felt great just to hear that, I really appreciated it. Any regrets or doubts I had about coming out instantly disappeared.
