Ugh, I just have to say this. You know what really gets to me?

Well I'll tell you!

I'm hearing all the time from various people that once they've come out to their parents, they get sent to some sort of councilling to "fix" them. It's like.. what the f*** do the parents expect to happen? Some sort of miraculous change-around of their child's mind or something. Like COMMON, these parents really oughta be more informed that [presently, at least] YOU CAN'T CHANGE GENETICS through friggin "councilling"! A child of a parent(s) that's just come out to them is in need of compassion and empathy, not seemingly disgust and dirtyness. A living person is not a machine; you can't "FIX" them!!!

I completely agree. I have asked various people I know if they think it's genetic. THis helps me feel out how they will react, however I have yet to tell anyone.

I completely agree with you, the idea that parents would do that to their child is SICK. And it makes me angry that such people should be allowed to have kids.

Most don't understand. We &quot;fix&quot; people all the time through psychological and psychiatric treatment (not homosexuals, but real mental health issues), and most people believe that homosexuality is a psychological problem that is unhealthy. well my parents &quot;fixed&quot; me (mom actualy used the word) and the dude was an &quot;ex-gay.&quot; he actualy had some insight as to (non-genetic) reasons why homosexuality occurs, but the rest was total bs. like reading a book could make me straight

How can parents do that to their kids, it's like trying to put everyone into a mold, just cos they don't agree with something! &amp; ppl who think that homosexuality is a &quot;genetic&quot; thing are bloody morons, &amp; i'm living proof cos my biological dad was a raging homophobe &amp; i'm obviously nothing like him.

Homophobia has nothing to do with homosexuality in terms of possible genetics. In fact, many homophobic people are that way because of their own represed homosexuality. Also, genes can skip multiple generations and so your parents or brothers or sisters wouldn't have to be gay for you to be.
