Thinking of coming out or have you just come out?

Did it go to plan? If yes, your awfully lucky congratulations, if no, read on.

So they always say coming out is supposed to be the hardest time in a guy/girls life, that it changes everything. Im not gonna sugar coat this for you, it can be a BITCH!

But this doesnt mean you shouldnt do it!

There are several reasons why some people are scared to come out, im gonna see if i can tackle these head on.

What if i lose all my friends? Ok honestly, you MIGHT lose some friends over coming out, but i figure those friends that ditch you for being who you are, were never your friends at all!! While you might lose these "friends" you'll make real friends as a result of this.

What if my parents hate me? Again, this is a possibility, BUT!!! they wont hate you forever, even the most set-in-stone parents dont hate you forever, they just need time to adjust. My parents were the most anti-gay people u could ever meet, and kicked me out of the house, but eventually they realised their love for me was stronger then a prejudice, and now were stronger then ever.

What if ir ruins my life? Truth is, it cant! coming out is the start of a life in which you can be yourself, no more reserves, no more hiding your feelings!! Its the best thing i ever done!

One more thing? Its an awful lot harder to think about doing it, then it is actually doing it!!

While i'm not completely "out" (parents dont really know.. but they must suspect), i know where you come from. I reckon you tackled it perfectly.

The "What if my friends dont like me" part is EXACTLY what i thought. If they dont like it, they can F*beep* off because they're not real friends.

Though i dont agree... thinking about the bad things that can come out of it makes it harder to actually come out... and to your parents is the hardest. Thinking about it is easy.

And for those of you still at school, you may just find more gay people... i know when i came out, like 4 other people did. ^^

I have not come out yet, but lately I've been wanting to. I really think that I'm ready for it. The only problem is that I'm not sure i have a friend i can tell. I've never really had that close friend, and my friend closest to me has had a crush on me for a few years now. I want to tell her but I feel like it will ruin our relationship, and at this point in my life its the best one I've got. The only other friend I would consider telling is not that great at keeping secrets, and I'm not sure if I'm ready for the whole world to know.

Chris, why not tell her, im sure if shes a true friend she'll support you through it, i todl the girl that had a crush on me for yars first, and now we are that absolute best of friends!! infact half the girls that had a major crush on me were the ones i told firs,t ive not fallen out with a single one, they seem to appreciate that u have a different bond, but a bond none the less. I would urge you to come out, but remember only do it when ur ready

and im really struggling with it.
but i dont wanna be kicked out of the house and i can gaurantee it'll happen.

I haven't really come out a whole lot yet. Technically only one friend knows, and I know a couple of my other friends have speculated, but, don't know for sure. My parents definitely don't know yet. I'm too scared to tell them, but, I know I need to soon.

All of those things are true that you said. I know friends who have gone through it. I'm just too nervous to do anything about it yet. Pretty soon, I will come out to all of my close friends and my parents, I'm just waiting for the right moment.
