Something similar happened to me. When I came out to my mom, she seemed to think for some reason that I had convinced myself that I was gay.

She thought that I had read about homosexuality on the intarweb and thought to myself, "Hey, that sounds cool! I think I'll try that! "

I had to explain to her that it doesn't happen that way, and while some people are confused, I was not. I made sure she understood that I wouldn't have said anything to her unless I was completely sure.

After this, she played the old "but you've never been with a girl" card. This kinda pissed me off, and after gaping at her for about a minute and a half, I said "Mom, tell me. Did you have to have a penis inside you before you knew you liked it?"
Silence.

Anyway, that was over a year ago now, and she's since become very accepting. Of course, whether or not your parents will come to terms with it (and how long it will take for them to do so) depends largely on their upbringing and their past experiences with gay people, etc.

You may just have to give her time.

OMG that was EXACTLY the same story with my mum!! How coincidental.

For Carl:
I think your mother is just trying to protect you. She is probably doing what mine did and thinking maybe its a phase, maybe it will go away. She is most likely thinking about the difficulties that can arise from being gay. The prejudice, the judgements, the difficulties with STD, having kids! All these things that your mum is probably thinking of and you, her precious son!

Maybe she thinks you are too young. I will take a look at your profile and repost, but I am not into the idea of really young kids (barely teenagers) being certain they are gay -- sometimes I think too young is too early, a lot can happen in a few months...

Well my man, I took a look at your profile and it seems to me that maybe one good way to convince your mum is to show her your GYC profile.

Sounds crazy I know but maybe she just needs convincing.

Nice jeans by the way .

^^ACK! Don't be too hasty. She may ban you from the GYC, seeing it as a "threat".

All I can say is, no mother can expect their child or children to be homosexual, they want them to grow up and have a family like they did themself, doesn't mean you have to but it's a stereotypical cleche and want of most mothers - she'll get over it eventually and realise it's not what she want's. but your own.

Hmm, I see what you are saying, but thats virtually impossible these days, what with the availability of public terminals, library access and suchlike. To ban someone from accessing the internet is almost impossible except by the law
