Pisces sad to say. i hope it's not always the pisces that mentions they're pisces. all my friends do.
anyways, yeah simple and subtle. throw in lots of laughs and spontaneity, mixed in with some wholesome, honest conversations. not fussed about details, i think the romance will come naturally.
it could be a coffee place on a corner, southbank of london, hyde park, spitafield market or camden etc etc.
just a hopeless romantic.

what makes a great date, in my opinion, is what happens during the date. you could be in the worst possible setting and still have a great date. the key thing is to always keep things light-hearted. one just needs to be mindfiul of how the other person feels. and as for what ur doing for the date, creativity and thoughtfulness always wins.

I used to have all these fantasies about dates I'd take girls on, where I'd but them little presents and hold their hand while we walked through town. But I guess that's a little less likely now as I'm probably going to be dating guys in the near future. I wouldn't say no to girls completely but the last time I was with one in that situation I couldn't wait to get away. I guess I'm on the gay side of bisexual.
Anyway, back to the question. My ideal date would be something random, like meet for a coffee and don't plan anything after that, just see how it goes. The last time I met some new people I stole them from a party and we ended up sitting on top of a tall rock next to a pier at low tide, at night, and I had a really good time so I wouldn't rule that out for a date. Beaches at night are really romantic, and even if you're just with friends I love being there at night. Also having a car really helps because you're not tied down to the area you are. I live on an island so there's the town and 5 minutes drive away are some of the nicest beaches you could ask for, and small secluded cafes and all sorts of places.
I guess I don't really know what my ideal date would be specifically, like someone said before me it would depend on who I was with. Seemingly the worst setting for a date can turn out to be pretty darn good! I guess what I'm saying is surprise me!

Sounds like something from the OC or something!
I think a great date is one where all that matters is you and the other person - your date. You can do whatever, go wherever. There's only so much star gazing, sea watching, sunset admiring etc you can do. It's great, and the night can be a beautiful thing. So I reckon something really monumental... going to see city lights, lying on grass verges, just spending time.
That's the most important thing, spending time. And I guess an ideal date for me would be someone who likes being spontaneous... I like to do things on a whim, unplanned, see what happens. It's exciting.
And I'm rambling.

I think that a good date isn't necessesarrily where you go or what you do, its that initial connection or spark. That thing that makes you want to go on a second date. Sure, you can go to a movie (which i think is a bad idea for a first cause then it creates tension and pressure to make-out) : as i was saying or you can go to the nicest restaurant in town, but if theres no connection it wont matter if you wore your Unforgivable or your Acqua Di Gio cologne or if its really dark and there are candles everywhere, the most important part of a date is the connection and the people there.

Ive technically only been on 2 dates in my life (I say technically because one time i wasnt aware that the other guy thought it was a date until disasterously too late! ) so im not really sure what i like in a date.
But what i dont like was the first guy, on our first ever date, id only ever met him once before as well, and he was stroking boxes of condoms saying "are you sure we cant go back to your house?" and when i said no whe had to settle for taking me porn shopping to 3 different sex shops in soho, other than that it was good.
what i loved about my 2nd date is that we spent faaar too long in the restaurant nd we didnt even realise, we just had such a great time and lost track of time!
Heres to a 2nd date on sunday! :-D

Great thread to read as I have a "date" (although I'm not sure the boy I'm going with wants to call it that :/) tomorrow and we're going shopping!
