I came out willingly. I just told my friends, easy as that. IT didn't really matter beyond "Oh, well done for talling us."

I was outed at school by my best mate.

i wanted to come out soon at the time anyway, so i told him and asked him not to say anything to anyone else and he said that he wouldn't because it wasn't his place. So anyway he told everyone in my year and i got bullied about it once. Suffice to say the bully won't be saying any smart remarks to me any time soon.

I came out. The first thing i did was tell my twin who wouldt tell me bout himself till this year. Then i told my friend and she kept it a secret till i told her she could tell anyone she wanted and that caused a couple of problems with our other friends but they worked out fine. My school is very accepting and i have never been picked on accept by this other gay kid in my grade who i hate by the way otherwise nobody has picked on me. It turned out really good

I told a friend of mine who i was almost certain was gay, but he denied it. Anyway, he promised he wouldnt tell anyone, next week he had told 3 people, one being my enemy. Then once i had forgiven him he had told other people, including my 3 best friends who were peeved that i didnt tell them. Then once i stopped talking to him for good, he made up a rumor i slept with a 21 year old from a nearby town. I got bullied, kinda harassed etc etc.
Its like a year later, and this person has just ' come out ' to me, haa.

It was kind of a mixture for me. I guess I didn't do it the best confrontational way (face to face). On my msn in the personal message line it said something like 'I love (name of my ex here) xxx' and I didn't realise I had added a friend from school at the time on this msn addy. He noticed and started asking tons of questions, calling me names, etc. So I guess he wasn't a very good was he?

So I thought well this is going to be past around the school eventually and so I went ahead and told my other friends that I added on msn slightly later. Most were shocked. After that the news had spread around the school and when I returned from a few days off I was bombarded with questions and people.

One thing that did help me was that I wasn't the only homosexual in this 'all boys' school so I felt I had someone to look up to.

hmm. Idk what i am at the minute but seriously i used to get all sorts in school, well the usual really, "gay boy" & "poof" etc. I learnt to ignore it and it stopped for a while and then started again but only with this one person and it was really bad. So i reported it, lolz i was so upset in front of my french teacher. Looking back on it now it was kinda embarassing but i wanted rid of all the harassment.
In my school its pretty much a single religion school and there are A LOT of homophobes and biggots and half the time they dont know what theyre talking about themselves.
Year 12 (Year 11 in england i think) has been the best year in my school so far out of all the 5 years ive been at it. Still... i dont feel like myself at that school. Its not the original one i applied for. Im thinking of going to the mixed school up the road to do my A-Levels. A LOT more diversity and different cultures and less sectarianism etc (im in northern ireland btw)
but yeh. im all confuzzled at the min but i have to get these GCSE's over with first ha!

I am openly gay at my school. I came out to one of my friends that I thought was bi. He's not but we're so close that sometimes it's just hard to tell. I would evetually go around asking my friends what would they do if one of their friends was gay, and if I felt comfortable enought I would come out to them. Eventually I lost count of how many people knew my secret, and then realized that I was now openly gay. Fortunatlly I have not been bullied; my school really doesn't care. weirdest thing though is that my friend that I first came out to (who is straight) has been rumored by the school to be gay and that I'm straight. Afterwards, one of my friends toled me he was gay.

Mine was a mix of both

At a...umm night i was thinking of coming out i was with some friends, and later on i kissed a guy, and then i sorta came out after that, then the tuesday art lesson, i told the guy i kissed i was gay (he was straight and we were sorta playfully forced to do it) and a friend of mine i told them BOTH to be quiet about it,

then the next day before chemistry, that friend, and two other friends came to me and one asked "are you bi?" i laughed a little and then saw he was serious and i asked where he got that idea, he told me my friend told him in lessons, i asked him why and his response was "we were telling each other stuff and i dunno i didnt have anything else" (ohh, great excuse) so i was sorta at that stage (having already come out to a couple of much closer friends) where i didnt like to lie about my sexuality so i told them i was gay, not bi, they were cool with it,

then i always got a bit of stick from people about kissing that guy the friday before, and thats when someone asked me across a drama rehearsal "ARE YOU GAY?!" as a total "hahaha he'll say he isnt and i'll make him feel bad" kinda airhead way And i shouted back to him "Uhh, Yeah i am" and then, spread like wildfire, hehe.

It was okay, i chose to be out and i was so relieved once i was, i was free to be myself and not have to worry, hehe so dragged halfway and then i jumped out.

I came out on my own will and I never regretted it. I first came out to my best friend (who is a girl) around May(ish) 2007. Actually that was involuntary cause it was some bet, but thats a different story. The next person I told was ages later around November time and then started to tell all my other friends until the inevitable happens when the rest of the school knows. It was scary at first as you don't know how people are going to respond but on the whole it was mainly positive, or should I say neutral. I don't know. I have never been bullied from it apart from another person from another school... Its funny how quickly gossip spreads.
Anyhow I'm still not totally out yet as my parents don't know and, atleast to my knowledge, my brother who should really as he knows everyone from everywhere.
So on the whole my friend made me tell her my secret which I am glad I did otherwise I wouldn't of have had the courage to tell anyone and still be this projection of what I'm not. But the rest of whom I told were my own choice and I have never regretted it since.
