In my school the only lesson that it's taught in even briefly is P.S.E & R.S but even then it's shown as being different. In my english class, filled with morons, they talk about it but really negativly & the teacher joins in with it as well. it's real akward cos there's 2 of us out in my year & the other one is a real drag queen. so people think i dress in drag on the weekend.

At my school (english high school) its only been mentioned once in a relationships topic in PSE, where we wrote down that homosexual relationships are looked upon more positively now, than say 50 years ago. But that's it. There isnt any mention of homosexuality at all; even on the Samaritans posters, there isn't even one leaflet.
I dont know how I'd feel about it being taught, cos Im not out at school, and it does make me feel awkward when it is mentioned, not because I'm not comfortable with it, but that I know that if others knew about me then I'd be done for. I think it should DEFINATELY be acknowledged at school somehow, even if its just a poster with a number you can call for support. Just by acknowledging sexuality somewhere, somehow, would make a difference - even if it's just to people passing by. If you are struggling with your sexuality then you would notice something as simple as that. I mean I saw an article in a magazine and I came out to my parents because of it.

I go to a private international school in Washington State, on a tiny island hahaha lol =]
Not to diminish what's going on at your school, but at my school there are two out students: one lesbian and one guy who's bi. Out of 400 students. I know 4 teachers JUST OUT OF THE FRESHMAN TEACHERS who are lesbian.

There are most definitely other people in my school who are gay. But out of around the 800-900 students. Im the only one out. So I get ALOT of crap from others.
My friends are close, and that's what matters.
I recentley suffered a homophobic attack which left me blackeyed and busted lip. Which made me really withdrawn, I'm back to normal now. In the end, even though I protest so much against homophobia in my school, as do my caring friends. I just didn't tell anyone at school, it was one of those - "It'll only make things worse" sorta excuses that I made up to myself. I still get repercussions from the people who did it.
I think, had my school had taught more about homosexuals, homosexuality and homophobia. I'd have had more confidence to tell someone.
It turns out that, in the TWO sexual health lessons I've had in my life at school, Homosexuality wasn;t even mentioned. It was only mentioned as "Bisexuals may mean using a condom with another man". I mean - The cheek of it! They didn't even have the nerve to mention homosexuality!
Although, I'm perfectly knowledgable of sexual health, It was dissapointing that my school wasn't caring about its gay students. Even if they're not all open about their sexuality as I am.
I plan to become an english teacher when I've finished all my education studies. I'll make sure I'm an openly gay person who any student can come to about homosexuality, homosexual sex and homophobia. I hope to contribute to making homosexuality more accepted in schools, even if it will be in a few years!

They Don't Talk About It Much
Although, The R.E Teacher Keeps Saying ...Religious People think Being gay is WRONG. W.R.O.N.G.....WRONG
She Looks At Me While Saying That Too .
Then You Just Get The Other Pupils Laughing At Anything Said About It.

My history teacher can talk about it a lot or at least we learn from the history he says.
Like I remember one day, he talked about that Yankee Doodle Revolutionary War song indicates more of a trans-sexuality connotation.
" Yankee Doodle went to town
Riding on a Pony
Stuck a feather in his hat and called him macaroni"
Which that basically referred to the Macaroni club, a group of men who liked dressing up femininely.
And my teacher went on about how trans-sexuality and homosexuality were not bad and shouldn't be criticized.
And whenever someone says the word gay to mean stupid "hah that's gay.." he would warn them not to say it or he'll write that person up.
Kinda made me feel special in a way.

Emmmm...How to say it?I am in China, you know,in the east of Asia, like China,Korea, the problem is a little sensitive.Everybody don't talk about it.The teacher seldome said something it,in my memory ,our headteacher just said once,he said"Are there anybody gays?"Then there are so much laughs in our class, then he said"I hope you are not gays."At that time ,Ireally felt so scared.I can understand it,not only teachers, but also so many people don't like gays, especialy adults, like many parents, they never gave us some knowledge abour sex, almost every kid has the same experience!we never know something, the only way to knowing it is reading books. And we have so many limits in boys and girls, cuz parents afraid we will love girls.others maybe do,but hehe...you know,i will never.
I really want to be a people ,like you,cuz you are very open-mind.But for us,it is ...so bad, nobody understand us.No friends know our secret,never...

My school doesn't teach anything about it atm!
Ive had a bit of homophobic bullying at school since ive come out, but mainly from seriously ugly chavs who think i fancy them haha (i really dont lol!)
Last friday I asked my teacher if she could put it in some RE syllabus next year and she said yes lol so even though ive had to put up with some serious crap, at least the next coming years wont have to cope with what ive had to

Well I have an interesting school situation because I go to very liberal but still Catholic high school (even though I'm not Catholic). They have to teach Catholic morals, but they also are extremely liberal. As far as anything gay is concerned, we're on a very fine line where everyone says how okay they are with it and how great it is that those people can admit that about themselves, but underneath the surface it makes everyone just a little antsy.
