I mostly try to ignore it. or if I am closer to that friend I say something like 'not all the time' or 'thats isnt true' or 'Thats Not Nice'
It is kinda hard.

Post edited by: mylife, at: 2008/02/08 15:55
I've acted way to strangely around a vast majority of my friends.
If I ever come out to some of them. I think I'm gonna wanna do it via satallite in china.
Meh, any of my friends who were homophobic towards me wen i came out just got ditched... not matter what our history. Sure it was hard but if there gunna be biggots then so be it. Thankfully most of my freinds were cool with it, the un homophobic ones even ditched the homopohbice ones with me lmao
Yeah, I have one really homophobic friend, I've known him since i was a little kid (actually we went out when we were 6. it was cute) and I am so close with him. I could NEVER give up our friendship. I try to ignore it, because I know he is trying - he meets with one of my lesbian teachers once a week to talk about it. Sometimes I'll tell him when I'm hurt by something he said, mostly not though. I've been trying to draw him into a conversation about it with me, so that he sees my story and my side of it. if your friendship is important to you, i think you should try to deal with it.

Wow! That sounds awesome: I think it's really great when people make the effort like that. You're really lucky to have a friend who'll do that for you.
90% of my school is homophobic.
its really ridiculous. i go to an all boys catholic school and not a day goes by that i dont hear the words 'faggot' and 'gay' at least 15 times. there are a few kids who dont really use the terms but theyre few and far between.
One of my best friends used to be a total homophobe before I came out. Honestly, though, I couldn't blame him, he went to a camp where one of the other guys would take pictures when the guys were changing. If I weren't gay and that happened to me, I'd probably be pretty homophobic, too. Now he sees that not all gay guys are like that. He still doesn't like the guys that act effeminately, but that doesn't affect me, so I'm all good.
