GW or WoW? 1 Year, 6 Months ago
I'm currently in a heated (not really) debate with my friend who is an avid World of Warcraft player. He thinks that WoW is better (despite the $15 monthly charge) than Guild Wars which is free. Anybody have any insight? Is WoW worth the money?

ummm
Ive played Guildwars alot. When I bought it, I had the same thought, WoW or GW. I found the charge just way to high. Also I have no time to spend in all these WoW worlds. I played a 10 day free trial of WoW and the last 3 days I didnt even use. It was boring me already and I dindt want to get too involved in all it. Guildwars is just good, will take a long time till you have one of your characters to a good level and have good builds for your skills. I now managed to have one for a warrior. 3 more slots to go which are also all interesting. Well I just think you should go for GW, unless you will play numerous hours a day and have no money problem anyway (but you will get addicted )

I play Guild Wars but not World of Warcraft. I want to play it sooo bad though, but my parents won't put it on their credit card, even if i give them the money monthly >.>

^They do game time cards for WoW.

I play both! Guild Wars is good if you don't want to pay monthly/buy game time cards but it has so little to do compared to WoW. I found that as soon as I reached the end of the game I had nothing to do except PvP until the expansions.

WoW has loads to do, but sometimes I just don't know what to do there is so much haha. WoW is worth the money and it has a wide range of choices for races and classes whereas Guild Wars only has the one race and about 8 classes.

Hmm, good food for thought. I guess I should download the 10day trial thing before I make a committment, but right ow I'm really enjoying Guild Wars. I guess I just gotta test the waters of WoW and see which one I'd rather do. Thanks.

To be honest, I'm glad I play Guild Wars, it's so much better for me, as a casual gamer. When I've seen screens of WoW, it does seem to be "Oh look, some cartoon figures on brown, and over there, a slightly darker shade of brown. Is that some green? Oh wait, no, it is in fact brown." - No offence to anyone who likes it, of course.

Lets make it simple: GW is for casual gamers, WoW is for hardcore gamers.

Haha, well that makes it pretty simple. I think I might just try WoW out, and see if I can stick with it.

Wow easily, I love the storyline plus GW looks too "realistic" and I highly dislike it's dull graphics. WoW is bright, interesting and I love it

Dull graphics? Are you playing on a 3 inch black and white moniter? lol

GW graphics surpass WoW's substantially. WoW honestly looks a little 'kiddie' with all its shiney colours. Looks really blocky, too, while GW just seems to flow.

Oh... and WoW doesn't have a storyline, it has a bunch of back-story related quests. GW has the storyline, with the sequencial missions and stuff...
