here is a little extract from my book Tough Love, which I am hopng to get published soon, and having already written around half of the sequel.
Hope you enjoy, it's one of my favourite parts 9no guessing why =P)
I could just about make out his face beside me in the grass, and apart from the long grass around me, all I could see was the endless azure sky stretching above the two of us, dotted with a few pure white clouds.
For a while I simply stared at the sky, with the occasional glance at the boy beside me. The light wind shifted the peaceful clouds out of view, only to make more appear to my right, that I knew, in no more than a few minutes, would be gone also. I continued to watch this over and over, but did not tire. I wished it would never end. It was just perfect; lying beside, hand in hand with the boy of my dreams, letting time roll peacefully by around me.
Suddenly it occurred to me just how much time had rolled past, and how many lives had also, and how many of those would surely have noticed our absence. I knew Kelly, who had probably sussed out the reason for my departure, would not be able to come up with an excuse just as flawless as I would be able to, and I knew I had to return rather soon.
"Don't worry," said Josh softly, seeming to read my mind as both he and Kelly always did. "I'm sure you can come up with a good excuse; you usually can."
I smiled to myself, but lifted myself up regardless. His grip on my hand tightened slightly, as if not wanting to let go.
"Don't go, please," he whispered, softly caressing my arm. I could not refuse his plea.
I lowered myself again, this time facing him on my side, my hand placed gently on his chest.
I looked out at the stream beside us; its blue-green waves shimmering in the sunlight, ripples forming around the bodies of the few white swans and small, brown ducklings. No reeds or pollution littered it, as it made its way slowly down-stream.
"So how often did you used to come down here?" I asked softly, afraid to disturb the peace.
"Every Friday usually."
I smiled to myself.
"Let me guess, you thought that was when I went to smoke."
Well, that's what my friends told me. "Something like that." But somehow, I always knew I was wrong, I wanted to say, but kept it as a thought; I did not want to disturb the peace.
I slowly ran my hand across his chest, as he wrapped his arms around me, turning me to lie against him. I stroked his cheek, leaning in to kiss him tenderly. His strong arms held me against him, as we rolled together in the grass, towards the soft sounds of the stream.
He kissed me again, and I wished he would never stop. "I love you," he said softly, as we began to roll again so he was above me against the clear sky.
"I lo-" I began, cutting off as we rolled a little too far, and Josh dropped a number of inches into the stream, spraying me with a splash of water that soaked my hair and refreshed my face.
I shifted myself to kneel perpendicular to the stream, as Josh lifted his soaking head from its water. He smiled as he saw my expression of worry, before lifting himself slightly and leaning towards me to give me a rather wet kiss. I put my arms around his head, running my fingers through his wet hair.
"You're soaked," I told him, as he stood and got out of the stream, after which I embraced his wet figure.
"I'm fine," he whispered into my ear.
I stepped back, my hand placed against his chest, which was clearly visible through his drenched, white shirt that stuck to him. I could see him shivering slightly, his nipples slightly erect, yet the water had seemed rather warm. Maybe he wasn't just cold.
"Do you have anything else to wear?" I asked.
"My games kit," he replied, nodding towards the oak tree up the hill.
"C'mon," I prompted, stepping up towards the tree. He did not follow. Instead he began to unbutton his shirt.
"Not now," I told him, looking cautiously around.
"There's no one here," he said. I couldn't argue with that.
He continued to unbutton his shirt, leaving it hanging loosely against his perfect torso. He went on to remove his equally wet - though not quite as transparent - trousers, to stand half naked before me in the long grass.
"You're shivering."
"I know."
"Aren't you cold?"
"A little."
"Why don't you put something on?"
"I don't need to."
He stepped towards me, placing a hand on my neck. I could not resist. I leant in towards his perfect body, nervously reaching my hand to fall upon his chest. He placed his hand upon mine, giving me confidence.
I leant in to kiss him once more, as he stroked my back.
We both knelt in the long grass, the sounds of the stream and distant birds in the wind enclosing us in nature.
Josh helped me to undo my own shirt buttons, though I could feel him shaking still. It was not long before I was doing the same.
Even as we lay down, the sun radiating us, we continued to shiver. As soon as Josh touched me, caressing my hand or neck, I felt a sense of warmth, though I continued to shiver as much as he.
We lay caressing each other beside the stream; the same stream we made love to each other beside not long after.
