War is an easy way out.
Im sorry, i just
i cant accept
that in an age where we can send people to the moon,
the solution to our problems is to shoot somebodys brains out?
I think its wrong. I think its murder for a start.
And the iraq is a complete shambles. You cant really tell how many iraqi civillians have died, numbers range from 70,000 to 900,000 depending on where you read them and data can be manipulated but even if its 70,000, thats still 70,000 than need be. Thats civilians, NOT terrorists, or soldiers. Thats not 'freedom' for us, them or anyone else. Thats genocide. Thats what you DONT see on the news.

Post edited by: dannydanny, at: 2007/09/12 04:48

Ok first of all we are not there for oil. If we were gas prices in this country would not be as high as they are. Second, we tried diplomacy for many, many years. The UN would sanction Saddam and his nation. He would laugh it off. The UN inspctors were kicked out after a few weeks of "inspections". They were denied access to many locals in the country. The UN gave deadlines and did not enforce them. So the US did. Oh and to disagree with Dany, we see and hear that stuff on the news everyday!! What we dont see are the children and people huging allied soliders. Our engineers rebuiliding schools, hosipitals, homes, etc. Death sells peace and love dont. Geoicide was happeining before we were there. Saddam gassed his people. Killed anyone that stood against him. We did nothing. As for it being murder? If it is unjustifyied it is but when you are being shot at you have a right to defend yourself. I have friends and family members over there fighiting right now doing there job, following orders. So saying that what they are doing is murder is calling my family and long time friends murders and i do not apreciate that. They are willing to die for people they have never met in any nation on this planet. I do agree that the country is in shambles and we are trying to fix it but rome was not built in a day. It WILL get better. Give it time. Oh and rad55667 knows what he is talking about!!

"first of all we are not there for oil" -fsudude2010

"I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil" -Alan Greenspan Chairman of the Federal Reserve 1987-2006.

"The UN inspctors were kicked out after a few weeks of "inspections". They were denied access to many locals in the country. The UN gave deadlines and did not enforce them. So the US did." -fsudude2010

Un weapons inspectors were let back into Iraq in 2002. They were not thrown out by Saddam, rather they were asked to leave by the US.

"The commission has not at any time during the inspections in Iraq found evidence of the continuation or resumption of programs of weapons of mass destruction " -Hans Blix

"Saddam gassed his people. Killed anyone that stood against him. We did nothing." -fsudude2010

Actually we did do something. During the Reagan administration US companies provided Saddam the building blocks for his chemical weapons program. We helped him get those weapons, he killed his own people, and Reagan did nothing.

"So saying that what they are doing is murder is calling my family and long time friends murders and i do not apreciate that." -fsudude2010

The truth is to be understood not appreciated. There have been gross human rights violations committed by US troops and Us contractors.

9/11 gave the US a perfect chance to start picking on those standing in its way of cheaper oil

You say this like it's a bad thing. How many times a day do your drive (or ride) somewhere? How many times do you flip on a lightswitch for light, or turn a faucet for water? My guess is quite a few ... And most of it is powered by oil. Oil that we need to be cheaper

Wait, what?

So you're saying a MORAL and ETHICAL reason for the war in Iraq is 'We need cheaper oil!'?

That is just ridiculous!

Oh no! The Iraqis have developed a sense of independence and are now selling their oil for fair and reasonable prices! THIS OF COURSE MEANS WAR! How dare they charge a fair price to boost economic growth when we are able to enjoy the cheap, abundance of oil,all while limiting Iraqs potential growth!?!

This war is, quite obviously, all about oil! If it wasn't about oil then why has the US not entered North Korea especially since it is publicly known they have nuclear weapons, have tested nuclear weapons and are willing to use them if necessary? Oh, I remember why, North Korea has no oil!

This war is just ridiculous and pointless, the sooner we are out, the better.

I think the Bush admin. are much smarter then they are given credit for...which makes me wonder why they HAD to invade? I don't personally think it was for oil. If it was, we would be using their fields to max production, which they aren't.

In all fairness the reason why the we don't invade North Korea has nothing to do with its lack of oil,
We could never invade North Korea as we fear the Dragon that protects it

Post edited by: rad55667, at: 2007/09/20 10:34

AHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Cheeper oil... Thats a good one.

Yeah... lets try not to have a repeat of Vietnam by getting out of there too soon. The second we pull out Iraq it'll be like WWIII. (Unless Iraq is able to fight off any threat, like Iran. However, they are soooo not able to do that right now.)

1. Iraq is a giant waste of time.

2. Saddam wasn't hurting us, and the US violated its own supposed ideals (ie. the Atlantic Charter) by declaring war on a sovreign nation for its own private benefit.

3. We're getting thousands of innocent people killed every day we stay there.

4. The US economy is facing a major slowdown due to the massive costs of supplying such a large amount of troops overseas.

5. George W. Bush is a certifiable moron...

Thank you!
