Is pornography a sinful thing? 1 Year ago

Well this is very interesting is it not?
I would first like to say that I am a strong supporter of individuals having the right to voice (or type) their opinion, and having it at least respected. I in this situation am going to have to go out on a rather thin and rotton limb and say that I am a supporter of the pornographic industry. There are many reasons why I am a supporter of such industry and around 90% are not for any real personal ideals.
First off, even if you do not enjoy pornography it is nice to realize that there is a huge, money making industry devoted in its name. Pornographic material is a high dollar, high yeild, industry that can be found in any country. It is just as much an export of counties as lets say, cattle, wheat, oil, tobacco, or anything that is consumable by other countries (and even the country or origin).
Secondy, pornographic material is very good for the youth in all areas of the world. You have to think of it this way. If there is a youth that is thinking about having sexual experiences, and there is no way for them to vent their sexual energy, they are actually going to go out and have sex. I know that sadly this happenes somewhat anyway, but at least with pornogrphic movies/mags. they have a chance to vent that in a safe and secure inviorment. I am by no means saying that pronogrphy is something that should replace human relationship and better yet, human sexual relationships. It is just an option that may help in the teen birth rate and spreading of STI's.
Fitting in with the second topic it is also a good way for youth to invision what they are going to like in sex. It is kinda a lesson of sorts. Like, I like this here, or no I would never want to do that. It also gives them a good sexual vocabularly, so when someone asks them, "Do you want to go bareback?" They can answere "No I do not, I don't want to catch anything."
I say it is a good thing, just as good as any American Apple Pie, any Canadian pure Maple Syrup. It is just something that is there, and will stay. So I think, look on the bright side of things, and use it to the best of your ability. Be if that means cuffing it to some movies, or by appreciating the fact that in the long run, somewhere down the road it might end up putting money in your pocket.

First of all, forget about sins and shit. If there is a God that keeps writing down our bad deeds to punish us later we're so screwd that pornography will surely be in the bottom of the list with tiny letters.
I think we should consider the matter mostly morally. And before you ask if pornography is good or bad, ask yourself if sex should be an industrial product. Everybody can ackowledge that pornography is useful -people getting money, viewers getting horny- but should it really be turning on the sight of paid actors fucking? It's not sex, it's not love, it's mere fucking, with no feelings at all.
Of course it's everybody's right to watch porn films and material, just like people still go to the prostitutes even if they know there's no feeling by them and they just want the money. So, to end this, it's not a matter of propriety but a matter of view, need, choice and respond. And to set things right, if young men are looking for sexual experience in movies, it's definately not their fault, not the porn industrie's fault, it's all our society's fault that still considers sex a matter not to talk about with the kids, a...sin!

Sins are merely actions that a certain group of people defines as something
they dont like to do or see.
Because of that, the question if something is a sin, has no meaning, and thus
deserves no answer. You can ask: Is pornography a sin for you or me, or
some bunch of people. Then it all comes down to personal opinions.
For me its as necessary as the air I breathe So no, it is no sin for me.

Okay, I am slightly confused.
When did venting sexual energy have to involve emotions. Emotions yes, at some point in our lives are going to come into play when exploring different sexual experiences. Nevertheless there are times when it is not even a question when emotion can leave the situation, and the relief can ensue. To relate masturbation to anything to do with emotion is just a very odd concept to me.
I would prefer to keep sex, and porn, and dildos or whatever in the same ranks of going to the movies to see a good show, or going to the mall to buy yourslef something nice. Does anyone ever ask themselves, "Is this shirt emotional enough for me." No, they realize that they are going to like the end result of wearing the shirt, and they buy it. Simple as that.
Lets all take a little step back, and really look at how silly it is to compair porn, to anything to do with emtion shall we?

I don't believe pornography is a sin.... and if itis a sin, I agree with the first replier that we are all going to Hell for it, if you believe in such a thing as Hell. I personally don't, it goes against my religion... but pornography isn't bad at all. I just don't particularly like it because I would rather have the sex than to look at it you know? Porn is great for some people.... but it's just not for me -_-

welll! It depends on what is included in the porn, lol..
If its child porn or something, which is wrong, then it is!
But people should be allowed to do it if its within the law, so I dont think it is sinful personally...

Here's the thing:
If you go by the Christian definition of "sin" then yes, pornography IS a sin. But so is being gay... so it's kinda too late for most of the ppl here anyway.
If you go by the Pagan definition, then absolutely not. In Paganism and Wicca, the human body is celebrated, not hidden... so yeah, it all depends on what religion you go by.
