I don't go to high school anymore. I finished last year but I would have given my school a minus 2 when I started there and a plus 1 when I finished. I got a bit better towards my final year. Its an all boys Catholic School so you can imagine why. At the start there was maybe about 2 out of 1500 that were out and they frequently got homophobic abuse from everyone in corridors, in canteen even in front of teachers and the teachers never did a thing about it.
Then there was the RE classes where we learned about how all gays are going to hell. To be fair to my RE teacher she did try to stop it getting too out of hand, but you can imagine how that went. Then there was Sex Ed classes in my last year there when the teacher basically said that all gays were going to die of AIDs and catch lots of STIs because we weren't in monogamous relationships with women.
And of course there was that religious retreat where they again told us all gays are going to hell, and that it can be cured and that if you are gay you should remain celibate. The only reason I think that it got slightly better towards the end was because the people I did come out to were all really accepting of me. I don't know how to rate my school, I've heard little to no conversation about the subject in my school. My sister was part of the GSA or two years, but we don't have it this year. Then there is the issue of the millions of Nazi symbols drawn all over the school. Maybe a seven.

I’ll give my school a 4 because half of the people in it might not be but the other half are and if you get bullied they do something about it in terms of helping you.

Most people in the senior years are cool with it, but the odd person isnt, theres only like two of us who are open about it, But most other people dont like the other gay guy cause he goes to far with it. But with me everyone is cool with it ahah

@Sassyvalentine- Yeh my school is similar: would have to give it about 3 though. I told my teacher that i'm gay just to ask his advice- currently out of 750 students only about 3 people are 'out' (its all boys too). He said that i shouldn't come out to 'preserve the integrity of the school'- great ^^. I also wanted to write an article for the school magazine, sensitive of course to intolerance so it wouldnt have been aggressive- just matter of fact. I wasn't allowed to do that- nor am i allowed to give a talk on the issue, again just plain facts about being gay etc- like HIV. Funny thing is almost all the boys a tolerant, just because its all boys it undermines the masculine element of it :I

I would say about 6/10.

Since I've came out, not many people really go out of their ways to harass me... however in the past I've had people throw soda on me, and yell things at me across campus. =/

I live in a small conservative town.

My school I would give it about 8/10. I go to a big catholic highschool((1600 students, big to me anyway)), and everyone is pretty accepting. The student body as a whole ((not 100% though)), and the teachers are all fine, and even supporting of it. The main problem is the administration, for example banning gay couples at dances and proms. But that still didn't stop me from bringing my boy that I was dating at the time to junior prom.
But I think as a senior none of the underclassmen try to start anything with me, basically because half of the senior class would be ready to strike back haha.

I would give my school an 8. The majority is accepting enough but thier are certain people who won't like it. My school does have lots of stonewall posters about though saying &quot;some people are gay get over it&quot;

i'd give mine 8 out of ten although there is a GSA and there was an assembly entirely devoted to alternate orientations, some ppl still manage 2 be biggots
