The only thing I hate are all the non-smokers who are VERY anti-smoking. I dont care if u don't smoke, but i do care if you have a problem with smokers. Sure, i know there are many risks to smoking, but i dont need them rammed into my face every day and to be repeatedly told that i shouldnt smoke. Please, piss off.
It's my choice. I'm paying for my cancer. Get the f*ck over it.
Couldnt agree more, man. In the chilly winter air, theres nothing better than lighting up a Marlboro Light while waiting for the bus...
Smokers in general seem like much more open, tolerant and friendly people. As a friend of mine who doesn't smoke said, "Id much rather be around smokers than a bigoted, ignorant anti-smoker."
In the UK now as well as the big text warning on the front of the pack, which I could understand, theyre gonna put horrible pictures on the back... PLEASE, I know what its doing to me perfectly well, just leave me in peace to enjoy my cigarette!

As a smoker for the past 8 years, I love it how it is publicly acceptable to haggle smokers and constantly remind us that it will kill us. But if I were to go up to someone overweight (and not that I would) and tell them to eat healthier, lower in fat foods because being overweight can cause as many problems for your health in the future as smoking. Some of these are heart disease and attacks, liver problems, sleep apneia (excuse the spelling if its wrong), and diabetes just to name a few. Or how about drinking alcohol, that also causes extensive damage to the liver, kidneys and digestive system. If you think about it, a lot of the things people do can cause serious damage to your body and even death yet we still do them. Even every day activities like driving, you could get into an accident and die yet people aren`t yelling from the tops of mountains to stop driving.
And I`m sure there will be many responses to my post saying that I`m comparing completely different things. But really, if it can cause bodily harm or death, how is it that different?? I have no problem with smoking, I enjoy lighting that death stick when i have the chance and if thats how i choose to wind down, than just leave me in peace to enjoy my toxic smoke and eventually die in peace.
And as for it being "cool", cool has nothing to do with it, its far from being cool.

Post edited by: gaybarrie, at: 2007/11/19 18:32

a) Why does there seem to be a higher proprtion of gay smokers?
b) Standing next to a person who is fat or who is drinking (unless they are obnoxiously drunk) does not affect me the way a person staanding next to me smoking does. (See: second hand smoke studies).
I don't care, do whatever you want...so that it doesn't harm others. It's unfair to subject others to your habit.
What I especially hate is smoking INSIDE public places. At least some places, like California, have gotten the idea.
Also, question for smokers: Why did you start? I don't understand why people start smoking when it smells bad and is gross (before you start). I get why you CONTINUE to smoke (stress, feels good, blah, blah), but with what we know about the health effects of cigarettes NOW, why start in the first place? I assume many people started from peer pressure or just being offered a cigarette and figured, hey, why not? We need to better educate youth so that this doesn't occur...
Another thing I hate: CIGARETTE BUTTS!! OMG, I can;t STAND this! My brother is a huge smoker and there is this huge MOUND of butts outside the front door! wtf?! Not to mention the profuse littering on streets...
Once again, I'm not against people who smoke CONSIDERATELY, but most people don't. (Smoking around non-smokers, dropping cigarette butts). Ugh
/end rant

to steal a quote from a friend- i'll stop smoking when life stops giving me reasons to need a fag
the two disgusting things about smoking are a) passive smoking and b) kissing someone who has recently had a cigarette
as for the "Why does there seem to be a higher proprtion of gay smokers?" question, its not something ive noticed tbh, but what does it matter anyway? a smoker is a smoker- whether they like cock or minge is irrelevant. questions like this irritate me tbh; like the other day, someone asked me if gay people smoked weed- and its like what kind of a question is that? its like asking if gay people eat cake or something; some do, some dont, just like everyone else yano

I don't like it, particularly, but as long as they aren't smoking inside a public place or are upwind of me while near me outside, I'm not gonna make a big deal about it. Though, I don't know if I could date a smoker. It's just too aesthetically displeasing for me.
