I became a vegetarian in February of '06. At first I just wanted to see if I could do it. Then I started reading into it and discovered how it's way healthier than eating meat. Also, now I find the thought of eating dead animal disgusting! I think that we are above eating meat now. There is no need for it. We can get our protein else where. Eating meat just seems rather barbaric. Also, the way the animals are treated before they are slaughtered is just disgusting. There is no excuse for it.

I went Vegetarian for Lent this past season. It was very interesting.
I'll admit that I wasn't very hardcore because I still ate eggs, fish and dairy, but it was definately a feat.
I am back to the T. Rex way, but I have considered going back, but if I were to make it "permanent" I would still eat meat occasionally. If only for great chinese food.
PETA isn't the best organization to quote tho...seriously...lol

Yeah, like previously stated ... PETA is kind of a, erm, joke?
At any rate, I enjoy eating meat and am quite content with it. Though I respect other peoples' decision to avoid meat (be it moral, health, or what have you), I enjoy the protein and the taste!
Though I will say this:
When an animal dies in a movie, to me, it is more disgusting than when humans die because animals are innocent and humans aren't. Again, that only applies to movies.

Vegetarianism and love of animals is all good, it's PETA that screws it up and ruins it's reputation. Just like Al-Qaeda did for Islam and Hitler did for Germany.

I for one support PETA..They seem to do a lot more passive organizations.
I don't understand how it's disgusting to kill an animal in a movie, but not in real life..

I don't particularly like the idea of eating animals
But yes I will continue to because
1)Society does not correctly cater to veggies needs
2)All the veggies i know are thin/gaunt and brusie easily due to lack of Iron in their diets
3)To hard to replace meat in diet
4)I like meat a lot
5)I'm not a fan of beans and other weeds that grow in the field.

Im a *vegan*. Its really good for the enviornment and decreases your ecological footprint by a huge degree. Unfortunatly dairy cows are killed early when they stop produceing milk and live their lives being pumped with chemicals and hooked up to machines. its really sad. even free range dairy cows are killed when their production levels drop - its all about 'new age profit' its not as humane as it sounds.
I dont understand why anyone would want to eat meat when we have the technology not to need it nutritionally. I don't rub it in anyones face but I do feel healthier and better about myself, knowing i am making a difference with my choices. it sounds insignificant but we haveto stop thinking that 'we' and 'society' are two different things.

Please, without meat our species would have never evolved. I'm fine with people becoming Vegetarians and Vegans for personal reasons, but come on. Changing our diets to 'protect the environment' wont do squat. If people want a complete healthy balance in their life, then they should have a full diet including meat.
On a lighter note, meat is just way too delicious...
