To Vista, or not to Vista... 1 Year, 5 Months ago
That is the question I pose to you. I'm upgrading to Basic in a few minutes (hope it doesn't kill my computer... ) and I'm wondering if you guys have or are planning to, and why did you?

I'm doin it for Halo 2 Vista.

Save yourself time, frustration and a horrible operating system by switching to Macs. I have a Mac myself and they are flawless, superb and the most advanced operating system in the world. Also, Vista tried to mimic off of the Mac operating system, but failed horribly.

Imagine a future in which millions of our descendants murder each other over rival interpretations of Star Wars or Windows 98. Could anything -- anything -- be more ridiculous? And yet, this would be no more ridiculous
than the world we are living in." – Sam Harris

i agree, i have vista home premium aswell and it has all the features you need. Getting basic is like re-buying XP but in a new shiny box with a few(hardly any) extra features.. As for slow pc's, dont upgrade yet because vista can use up alot of memory and does work your graphics card a lil bit extra.. but ye if u got a good pc well worth getting home premium! (cos it loooks nice xD)

Post edited by: Ry07, at: 2007/05/04 21:05

I'll be sticking with XP until they quit updating it, VISTA is nothing more then XP on a Security Upgrade, while my XP can top VISTA's security.... Plus it is so RAM intensive and Grpahics intensive that it would be a waste of money.

Hey, i have a new laptop with Vista Home Basic on, and yeah it's got all the new features such as Windows Aero (although not on Basic) and improved security, i cant see many benefits. The other problem is, it dosent run all programs. I couldnt run office 97 (ok yeah i should update) so i had to get a new copy, it wouldnt run Sibelius (music notation program) so i had to actually phone microsoft for a patch. It looks good, and it has new features, but apart from the superficial stuff, i would take previous advice that when you get a new computer, go for a mac- they dont freeze up!
