Hey, My names Mark and I came here to hear other peoples stories about being gay/bi and Wow.... I Haven't had much experience with coming out and I could never have imagined how easy or hard it is for some people!
Well I've only ever told two people that im bi and they were supposed to be my two best friends (both girls). At a party one night something happened with this guy but we didnt go far at all. I realised then that I had definate feelings for guys and I had always tried very hard to deny it. In the morning I went for a walk with my friend katie. On this walk I told her what happened and she seemed cool with it then back at school the next day she more or less made me come out to her friend that I was bi and they just nodded. To cut a long story short, they told heaps of people that I was gay not even bi and stopped talking to me. I have been kind of afraid to tell other people including my best friend for years who is a guy who heard them saying things about me and confronted me and said he would be cool with it and I just lied to his face, then another great friend of mine who is a girl asked me not even three days ago and I lied again. But I dont think I should lie about it anymore its a part of who I am and if they dont accept me for me then I dont need them anyway. I also wonder if I should tell this girl that I like... The only worry I have is about my parents finding out. Sorry if this all sounds a little cheesy.... Id like to know what other people think about this too.... You should definately visit the "Coming Out" forum, to hear some of our experiences, (it may help).

I honestly don't think you should lie about not being 'bi' or gay, if your friends won't accept you, then thier not real friends.

When you feel ready, you'll tell your parents.

Wow, "Hydroponics", we studied about it in school, it is cool.

Man, I completely understand! Yeah, idealistically, you shouldn't be afraid to come out, and if your "friends" reject you, then they weren't really your friends. But, the world is definately not ideal! You've got to be careful about who you tell, if you're worried about unwanted exposure. I just told my best friend I was gay, but that's only because I felt absolutely sure that he would be fine with it. And he was . But you can only come out when you're ready. Not when someone else is ready for you to come out. And no, this doesn't sound cheesy at all. It's a very real thing that many of us have experienced . Oh, and welcome!

Thanks guys for the awesome replies... well Ive made my mind up im not going to lie about it anymore, the next time I see my friends (which might be in a few weeks) im going to try and tell them. Thanks again for the replies, I feel heaps better now. Its a great forum and its good to meet some nice people.
