The rarity of a gay guy here on my little island is like...trying to find a needle in a hay stack. I mean, me along with about, 5 other guys, are the only gays in school. And about within a 10 mile radius ( Not considering all the closet cases out there )

To be honest with you all, that sucks.
Sometimes i just feel alone and depressed, even tho i dont show it physically. Sometimes I just need someone to hold me in there arms and make me feel better, but alas, that wont be happening anytime soon.

Anyone else here on the GYC that live in an area with too many straight boys but far too little gay guys?

There is 0, count 'em 0 gay people that I know of in my whole city of 80000 people. How do you like them apples?

aw it's not that bad, the fact you know 5 other gay guys in your school is quite impressive! I didn't know any at school!

You know 5, I'm the first guy at my school that is out...

Same for me.

I'm the only gay guy. All the girls love me 'cos I'm really confident...

But on the downside...
Sometimes I get really depressed 'cos I just want someone to say they love me - watch a film cuddling under the covers...

Recently I've been getting really upset that I know 0 gay people...
I can't let it show at school though 'cos everyone thinks that I don't care...

There are alot more gay/bi people out there than you think! Statistics show that 1 out of 10 people are gay or bi. I live in a tiny town. There are only a hundred some people in my grade. But still, atleast 10 of them should be gay/ bi and atleast 40 people in my school that are gay/bi. (considering there is atleast 100 people in each grade) I hope that made sense!

Anyway, point is, you're not alone! There are lots of gay people out there! You just don't know about them yet!

The sad news: I don't know if I buy the 1 out of 10 figure for gays in the world. In the least, the concentration of gay men is not even across the globe, so certain areas are likely to have fewer gay men than others.

The good news: You are never alone. You never realize how many gay or bi guys there really are when you're stuck in a culture, in a town, or on an island that discourages the idea of homosexuality. They are out there--there is no doubt about it.

While that may not put a boyfriend's arms around you, it surely shows that you're not alone. There are others like you. Trust me, coming from Conservative Suburb, USA, I can vouch for the incredible surprise you get from realizing the number of closeted gays that can exist in a single area.

i'm in agreement with johnicaster there r more closet cases out there who just aren't ready 2 be out all the way yet. u aren't alone. about that whole 1 in 10 stat. That stat is seriously messed, sorry 2 burst ur bubble but the ppl who did that survey only counted those ppl who had had 1 fantasy, or 1 homosexual encounter and discounted the fact that they had attractions mostly 2 the opposite sex. Actually acurate stats state that 1-2% of the population has an alternate sexuality. END OF RANT

i know only 1 gay kid @ my school (although the school has a surprisingly large number of gay teachers and administrators). but it feels that there r fewer gays b/c we all know kids that we think may be gay but we r never sure b/c if u say ur gay and ask if they r and they're str8 u kinda just outed urself. many gays kno each other and wonder if other person is gay but both r afraid 2 ask each other out of fear that the other turns out str8.

I don't know.... I know other gay guys, but I'm not really good friends with them, and I don't talk with any of them except for one. Basically it feels like I'm the only one around here. I'm hoping that will all change when I go to school in august.
