The stereotypical view of a gay man is a feminine acting guy who generally has a high voice, a limp wrist and knows everything about fashion. My sister's quite fashionable and i get her to do my clothes shopping 'cause i hate it, shes often made a joke about how she wishes i was gay then i would know more about fashion and want to do clothes shopping, obviously she doesnt know im gay and she is very wrong. Being 'camp' really doesnt work for me Its also seen as the opposite for women, as lesbian women are seen to become more manly.
I have never been attracted to a really camp guy because it sort of annoys me (no offense). I dont try to be 'manly' because of denial or anything, i just am a guy, so thats what im like. I was just wondering how many of you guys/girls are 'camp'/'butch'

I'm not really "camp" but at the same time I'm not really masculine.
I mean, I lean more to the feminine side, but I'm not all flamboyant and limp-wristed.
I do know about fashion, but it isn't really the type that most people are into, and I LOVE shopping and thinking up new crazy outfits that I could wear.
I do have a tendency to wear make-up and straighten my hair though, but that's because I do it for fashion reasons and my hair looks nice straightened.

'Camp' guys really annoy me actually. I've got nothing against them really, but it just wouldn't work...

As many of you said, your not camp/butch... heh, well, i'm certainly feminine I guess, but no, I'm not 'camp', I'm in between i'd say! Yeah! I've always said that I'm gay, so I want to date a man, not a woman, however, I do adore feminine guys, they are very, very fun, however sometimes drama-queens (not generalising), so there are issues... but hey, I usually like 'the non-feminine' men, because, well, I usually look upon 'camp' guys as the submissive men in a relationship, and well, i'm sub so, i'd rather go for a... 'manly' man. Heh.

I kinda know what you mean. I completely understand that there are camp gay guys out there and I completely respect if that is how they are.
But because I am not camp at all, I find it confusing, because in my opinion, if you fancy guys then its because you like aspects of guys in general ie. they are manly acting and not feminine or camp, as that would go against the aspect that attracts you to men in the first place. It also confuses me with gay women too, if you fancy a woman, surely that means you would fancy the attributes that a woman has, ie. more feminine as opposed to butch etc, etc
Yea, they are stereotypes but they do exist. Not that I have a problem with it at all.. its just one of those things I dont really understand.
(eek.. awaiting massive backlash)

now, im not camp, though definately more feminine, and camp guys are ok, as long as they dont over-do it. sometimes i wonder if camp guys become camp simply because it is the stereotype. but sure, id go out with a camp guy, as long as it doesnt start to annoy the crap outta me first.
