I typed my message out... but I think I posted it in the wrong place. Lemme try it again
I, personally, would not choose to be straight - even if somebody gave me the choice. Being gay makes me who I am; yes, it makes life much more difficult, but the difficulty and challenge of being something or somebody controversial has definitely made my life much more interesting and fulfilling. It's kind of like that one saying - "whatever doesn't kill you will make you stronger." Being gay forces me to question and examine both myself and the society I live in. Ultimately, I can relate to both my straight male friends and my friends who are girls (which basically means I can have more friends!). Anyway, Being outside the "mainstream" allows you to take a look at things in a very different way. And honestly, for me at least, being gay hasn't really created a lot of problems. It has allowed me to meet tons of fun and interesting people, as well as figure out who I am. Even if somebody disagrees with my sexuality, I hope I can show them that being gay isn't so different or weird and that deep down inside, we're all human. So, I see my sexuality as a gift and something I certainly wouldn't want to do away with as it is so central to who I am.
