If you're looking for reasons to condemn the Mormon church, the ones I mentioned above are pretty damn good. That's not my beef with the church, though. My beef with the Mormon Church is that they lie. Constantly.

Just take a look at the (very short) list I compiled above of the inaccuracies and inconsistencies in the book of Mormon. I must stress that one of the most IMPORTANT aspects of the story related in the Book of Mormon, that Native Americans are descended from a lost tribe of Israel, is WRONG (it couldn't be more wrong if it tried).

All it takes is a simple DNA test to confirm that the allele frequencies of Native Americans coincide closest with those of the mongoloid race (Asiatic stalk from Asia and Siberia), and NOT Israelites from 600 B.C.E. (not even CLOSE!)

When religions like Mormonism make testable claims like this, it becomes very easy to see that the entire belief system is just an elaborate story made up by some lunatic with temporal lobe epilepsy, in this case, One Joseph Smith Jr.

I am Mormon as well. All I can say is to think a lot about what you plan to do. When my parents found out, they decided to talk to our Branch President. He then gave me the options of leaving the church, going to counseling to "fix the problem" that I have, or to be excommunicated. This was a hard thing to figure out since both sides of my family are church members. Basically, you need to decide to do what is best for you. I personally decided to leave the church of my own accord.

I think you did the right thing, and yours is good advice, but...

My advice:

Don't be made to feel like a worthless piece of shit by an organization that thinks you have a mental disorder for being attracted to the same sex. The Mormon church (like most others) isn't worth the paper in the fictional book it's founded on. I used to be Mormon until a few weeks ago and I'm gay.
I told my quorum leader and my bishop and I realized it wouldnt be possible for me to be gay and mormon.

Because I would have to hide it and it just wouldnt work for me.


So my advice would be to leave because I dont think you can openly gay and practicing Mormon.

I just wanted to argue that all religeons encourage hate of some sort. If it describes being gay as a sin people of that religeon aren't exactly going to be friendly are they.
i belive in a god to some level. if he made us all and loves us then being gay can't be wrong!
And i'm not picking on mormons. every religeon is like that and it's sad that it has to be like that.

Yeah, its sin being gay, its sin eating this n that, its sin doing htis n that. But Jesus was here to take away the world's sin. He who knew no sin became sin Himself. If you believed and accepted Christ, you have accepted the forgiveness of sin. You'll go to heaven. Thats what the New Testament says.

i'm not going 2 write a post bashing mormonism. i will say this: the LDS church's policy toward black ppl b4 the 1960s was racist and un-Christianlike--saying that black ppl were meant 2 b slaves (the curse of ham) and they were unworthy to become priests. i don't believe that ppl go 2 hell for being gay and there is no need to turn gay ppl str8. homosexuality is not something the Lord's likes but he loves all lgbt ppl nonetheless. Strictly speaking, the mormon church doesn't teach anything about an actual &quot;hell&quot; unless you count what they call the &quot;Outer Darkness&quot; which is for those who have seen, but continue to deny, god himself.



They also have their heaven divided into three levels.. Which makes no sense when they say that god loves everyone equally...

The church speaks out against things like caffeine and masturbation, both of which have been proven to have health benefits, but are somehow still bad for you. I do agree with speaking against harmful substances, but why would something that is healthy for the body be so bad for the spirit? Especially when we apparently came to this life to join body and spirit into one form. To become closer to god as they say it.


There is nothing unnatural or immoral about being gay. No matter what anyone in the church says. It is not something we choose. Nor is it something we can just turn off if it is inconvenient.

I could find sources to support what I am going to say next, but frankly this is not worth the effort. People who will believe it will, and those who won't, wouldn't no matter how much evidence I gave to support it.

To prove that being gay is completely natural, I suggest you look to wild animals, who are innocent as man will never be. They have no method to make conscious choices, yet some wild animals are gay just as some humans are. It is not common, nor entirely desirable for the species as it would die out due to lack of offspring. But these animals are not outcaste from the herd or whatever organization the animal has.


So, if you can see that, then you know, as many others know. That there can't possibly be something wrong with loving someone of the same sex.

Well, it's a religion, so you could always just make up whatever the hell you want to justify yourself.
