Re:Do You Believe In God? 9 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hmmm I don't know what I believe.... I know I can't believe in an interventionist God though - such a thing would contradict benevolence. Any God which condemned his creation to a hell or punished them for their spatial actions is not one which I could ever believe in. A non-interventionist God who is wholly benevolent I could believe in though, like from a deistic point of view.

What really annoys me though are 'proofs' for God put forward through science etc. This is kind of edging on what Jacob1991 was saying in a way, in the sense that if there is a God, he is seen as a non-spatial being; therefore spatial proofs are wholly invalid, as no-one can comprehend things beyond the 'spatial realm' in which we live. However, suggesting God 'exists,' as it were, through faith and belief is completely respectable (to the individual at the very least, if nothing else).

So yeah, non-interventionist God or bust for me.

Unless I am given undeniable proof that God exists, I will continue to believe there is no God and no afterlife.

Re:Do You Believe In God? 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Nope, I don’t believe in any god or religion. I have opened an astronomy text book . I think the backbone to most religions is the sun. People knew they needed the sun to grow their crops, brighten up their day, and that it provided a nice heat for their bodies. Without the sun they would die. Religions are usually based on Good Vs Bad (Astronomically speaking Day Vs Night). People realized that the days got shorter and shorter in the winter in till the spring equinox and then the amount of daylight got longer and longer after that. For three days the sun seams to set in the same place, during this transitional phase if you look up there is a constellation know as “The cross”. If we are talking about the Christian god (which I grew up with) the most important symbols in his book have to do with the sun. In the bible one of the most important if not the most important persons was Gods son Jesus, who died on the cross and was resurrected after 3 days. But I don’t think the bible was really talking about Jesus, it’s the sun in the sky... The sun stops moving under “The cross” and appears to set in the same place for 3 days, after that the sun is resurrected the amount of daylight begins to lengthen. Easter happens on the spring equinox. Lots of people say that other religions talk about Jesus there for he must have existed but he gets a different name in those other religions, I think the stories match up because they are all stories about the sun in our sky. Most of the things in the bible I have found to be way to coincidental with astronomy, most people know where the Big Dipper and Orion are in the sky, Orion’s belt is also known as “The three kings”. On Christmas “The three kings” line up with the brightest star in the sky. The three kings follow the brightest star to where the sun is born. I don’t like Christianity because of the witch burnings, Christians considered open gay’s to be possessed by the devil. Girls would have been considered witches. Some nine million women were burned at the stake (anyone who would have written something like this, created a website like this one (HAHAHA, fine started a page posting vertical log/post in the middle of the town), noted any contradictions in the bible, or questioned the existence of god would have been burned) Although that’s not to say that I don’t mind the idea of a religion, teaching people to be kind to one another, not to steal from one another are good things. We should support others and be kind. I think religion is a boogie man story on a major scale, if you don’t stay in bed the boogie man will get you, if you are bad you will not go to heaven. This seems to drain the fun out of life. The idea of donating to the church seems to be a great idea, but I think most of that money is not making it to the people who need it. New churches are being built, free bibles are being distributed, and the pope needs fuel to roam around in his bullet proof cage on wheels. Can’t he trust god to protect him against evil? The church also suggested that the earth was flat, and god didn’t tell them otherwise, couldn’t he have spoken through one of his many people? I find too many problems with modern religion. People should be helping others, not parading around with signs against gays. People need to stop fighting over their great great great great great grandparents sun stories, and read a text book, nothing astronomical happened other than people learned basic astronomy. A dude named Jesus might have existed, been a good guy, had lots of friends, and wanted to spread joy, but if he walked on water he was more like magician, (Magicians are also hated by the church, magic is BAD) They don’t want people to read Harry Potter, and the Golden Compass, really do bible story’s hold any more evidence? These are a couple of the reasons I don’t believe in any religion or god. If you would like more reasons you can message me. Sorry about the length, the first time I wrote this it was actually longer XD, and had more examples, but when I submitted it, I got logged out, and was not able to recover it... It is said that his sun descends from the heavens, Yeah the sun is in the sky .

I do believe in god, I have alot of faith and I'm Catholic. I honestly believe that the church will eventually adapt to the idea of Man + Man = Lovers, Woman + Woman = Lovers and Man + Woman = Lovers. I do believe that god created the earth in 6 days and rested on the 7th and I believe that he used the idea as evolution to create the earth. But I will never feel as close to the church until queer relations change.

You believe that God used evolution to create man, and yet you believe that the world (including men) was created within 6 days?

Go read on the subject of evolution again, you seem to missing some calculations of, oh, I don't know, a couple of million years and more...

I've seen it brought up in the big debates before that maybe god is just moving at a speed greater then ours and due to that his time is different from ours. If that is the case then he may have made us in six of his days but it was many more of ours.

Hmm no. I dont believe in god, the devil, angels or the bible...I find it all way too improbable. Plus the fact that there is no proof to back most of it up makes it practically impossible for me believe.
However I do believe that people in general need something to believe in to make them feel like they've got a reason for being here...I say believe in whatever helps you sleep well at night!

LOL. It could also be that the people that come up with these excuses have a rectum the size of the Grand Canyon. Heck, they need somewhere to store all this shit.
