Personally i think alot of it springs from reading of too many fantasy novels

Outside influences such as fantasy novels, games, and a general desire for some bit of control in one's life. Wicca gives a feeling of power and can give the same feeling of peace that devout believers in any religion find. For what its worth, in my opinion its all just psychological. A nice placebo, albeit a better one than Christianity or Islam. Wicca is also among the most accepting of belief systems, which makes it particularly alluring to youth. I have no problem with it really, my beef is with the religions that hurt people and seek to cut them off from the beauty of the present world.

i believe it does give a sense of peace, however, you cannot just say it's peaceful in the belief as we all don't know what is waiting for us, i think it's just up to us individually to decide if it's the right thing or not.

No, but I'm reasonably certain of what is here now. What happens to us after death is of little consequence to me unless it has an effect on the living. And given that there isn't really any evidence that cannot be fairly easily dismissed with proper understanding of human psychology and biology (or simply slight of hand) for magick or psychic phenomenon or tricks, I don't find a belief system that holds to such things as being viable. Just like I don't believe in a god. I think wicca and Christianity are equally wrong, but I also think wicca is better at developing proper respect for all things. So if I where to pick one I would go with pagan religions. Particularly druidry. I like druids, always have, always will, but I still think their mystical beliefs are wrong. Sorry, I'm rambling aren't I? Stopping. >.>

Oh, and yes, it is fully acceptable for someone to find peace in belief. Lies, if believed, can be truth in some eyes. Placebos.

I can't think back that far lol... anyway I was born and raised on paganism and I am in a coven I love it. 1st thing I don't feel u should like paganism cause ur gay religion and sexual preference shouldn't have a connection. also to the people who keep on being asses look just leave them be ok it's not that hard grow up otherwise it will come back to u karma is bitch u don't like being bullied or called faggot because it demeens a part of who you are if you have no religion you can't be demeend in that area but since we have beliefs we can. Were all gay here and already get harrased for that do we really need harrased for anything else? anyway back to u fellow wiccans I hope that I get a chance to talk to some of you sometime and get to know you. not al;l wiccans worship the God as well as the Goddess. My whole coven [I, Darra, Luisaidh, and Aura] are dianic wiccans ie, we do not worship the god as the goddesses equal. i do not worship him at all, except as the consort of the mother. THat being said, i have no problem [being wiccan] with people hu do worship the god equally, its just not for me

incidentally, i was drawn to wicca because of its lack of bigotry, especially homophobia.
