having properly made up my mind i suppose you could say what i believe is similar to the force in star wars, theres something around us that connects everything and to an extent influences our lives (like luck i guess), but it doesnt require or want worshiping.
to be honest i can believe far more easily in paranormal things like aliens, the loch ness monster, bigfoot etc tham i can in religion, it just feels so false and hipocritical

I used to be an atheist for a LONG time... but after discovering some serious surprising flaws in evolution I slowly fell into agnosticism then finally became a christian. All I really have to say I guess is just look on BOTH sides. Before I simply just ate up whatever my science professor fed me and whatever I read in an science textbook . You can find plently of sites {Even Non-religious believe it or not!} that provide scientific evidence disproving evolution {Main reason for my athestic beliefs }.

So what are these surprising flaws then? I've been presented with a variety of so called flaws by my family, but after closer scrutiny, they simple did not hold up. Might I also add though, that science is not about taking what sounds good, but about taking what there is evidence for. A god or other unexplainable force is something that no good scientific thinker should involve in his studies of reality. Evolution may be proven wrong eventually, despite all evidence in support of it, but that doesn't make religious answers correct, it means that scientists get to continue looking for another rational way of perceiving the world.
I used to be a Christian for a LONG time... but after discovering some serious surprising flaws in its doctrines and manner of perceiving the world, I fell into a agnosticism, then finally became an atheist. I was hardly a small-time Christian either. I studied plenty, and went on a few mission trips which I now regard with disgust, but see as being a necessary part of my life. I would agree though. Look at both sides. Science is not and should never be about accepting everything your science teacher tells you. Read about it, study it yourself and study different theories if you find it an interesting subject. I can guarantee that you will find plenty of sites that provide legitimate supportable scientific evidence disproving the claims made by creationists, and supporting the theory of evolution.

i'm a scientist, which is pretty much an atheist. although i do not automatically dislike religious people, unlike my family (i was raised as a strict atheist.) i think it's great that people have faith, i just don't like it when people think that their religion is the only one that is possible. e.g. christian hating muslims, jew hating christians, buddhist hating jews. they treat it like a football team. at the end of the day, i just think taht people should have faith.
not that i can talk though, because i am CERTAIN that there is no god.

I'm agnostic, I say there is a god. It doesn't care about us and probably had very little if nothing with creating the world as we know it today. As for an after-life I don't know or care, I believe that we'll find out sooner or later.

I'm atheist, I believe in science, and I believe there is a limit to how much science can explain at any given time.
At this time, science has come a long way, yet I believe it will eventually erode away religions.
Heck, before science proved the process of photosynthesis, the Christian idea of God creating all the plants on earth before he created the sun sounds kind of plausible. Before science concluded that we have light as the result of an emitter of energy, the same Christian idea that God created the sun after creating light and dark seems also quite plausible.
Now, I just read and laugh my head off.
He created all the planets and stars of the universe on one day, yet it took him about a fucking week to make just one? Give me a break, that sounds like a guy that doesn't have efficient time-planning procedures in place.
