Both of those films made me cry for ages, out of joy of course. Edge of Seventeen is another film similar, from the same year as Get Real, but I really didn't like it as much.
I loved Beautiful Thing, probably my favourite movie. After watching it I became obsessed with gay themed films and downloaded a few. My Summer of Love (2004) is one of my favourites; a lesbian theme about two teenaged girls in England. One of the girls was in The Devil Wears Prada. It was really good, I've actually watched it more than once. I also would recommend Latter Days, a newer movie (2003) set in LA. About a Mormon missionary and a promiscuous gay man. You might also look into Mysterious Skin. It was good, but not in the way that Beautiful Thing was good. Those would be my picks. If I think of anything else I'll let you know.

Post edited by: Frasemiste4, at: 2007/07/12 17:04
The History Boys is a recent film and stage play with homosexual themes, including teacher and student sex. Very good watch, especially if you have a certain thing for philosophy and knowledge. Sugar Rush is a TV cerial about a lesbian girl and her best friend, an episode of which I was fortunate to catch on Channel Four two days ago: certainly, an acomplished show.
I saw Beautiful Thing on stage at the Edinburgh Festival in 2005: it made me very happy, indeed.
