imogen heap album coverImogen Heap’s latest album, Ellipse is set to be the final, deserved breakthrough for an artist who has spent her career to date building and responding to a large fan base through social networking sites.  Heap’s music consistently delivers in terms of soaring vocals and carefully orchestrated yet beautifully eloquent arrangements and Ellipse is the natural successor to her previous albums.  Furthermore, through collaborating with, amongst others, theatre makers Frantic Assembly in the UK, Heap has managed to connect her music with readily available youth and mainstream culture.  Hailed as the original queen of the download, Heap now moves closer to the recognition she deserves with an album consistently full of emotive tracks that never dwell on whim.  Rather, these tracks suggest a careful, determined focus on pushing an individual style which does Heap’s observations of the world around her justice.

This album, her third, takes the listener on a delightful journey where storytelling and an individual musical style that has only gotten bolder as it has progressed blend perfectly.  No longer should previous tracks such as Hide and Seek and Can’t Take It In be the only mainstream recognition Heap deserves.  Myspace and more recently, Twitter have afforded Heap the opportunity to directly engage her fans who devotedly followed the album’s progress through her blog and website.  The result has been worth the wait and now, as the album proves on even a first listen, Imogen Heap rightfully achieves a cross over from internet sensation to mainstream success.   Ellipse is a wonderful album that cuts through so much mundane popular music with its originality, poetic depth and the perfect added extra of charming wit and a little eccentricity.

Ellipse is out now to buy and download.

Usually I find only a couple of songs on each album of hers to be really cool...to me. In which case, I really like Aha! and Tidal...:zzz :D

I love this album so much. She ties the story together perfectly and retains the same strength of emotion and character that makes her music individual. Not to mention that this new batch is equally as catchy and thought provoking as previous album. By far my favorite and a definite MUST BUY!
