ImageYep, its that time of year again, the newspapers and magazines are full of double page spreads telling us what to pack, how to dress and where to go for the best summer  festival experience, so we thought we would jump on the glittery bandwagon and get involved. There is such a huge variety, from the most famous of all, Glastonbury, , the laid back and eclectic Latitude, rock and pop heavyweights at Reading and Leeds, hardcore dance at Exit in Serbia, raving at Glade or Global Gathering, the Boutique Secret Garden Party, summer dance Fun at Lovebox to innovative electro at Field Day.

And our pick of the festivals? Well it has to be Bestival, always a GYC favourite and sporting an overwhelmingly impressive list of electro inspired bands and DJs this year, we can’t wait to get our Ferry over to the Isle of Wight in September.

It’s a great place to meet people, discover new music, dance, dress up and generally leave behind the real world for a truly unforgettable weekend. This year’s theme is ‘Bestival 2009: A Space Oddity’ so think shiny and out of this world! And it has just won The Times 2009 best music festival award! Tickets are selling out fast, so be quick and don’t forget to let us know if you’re coming! Go to www.bestival.net to buy tickets and see the full line up (its huge!)

11-13 September 2009

Robin Hill Park, Isle of Wight

‘Set in a beautiful country park in the heart of the Isle of Wight, Bestival is a weekend of eclectic music, eccentric people and plenty of fancy dress. Winner of Best Medium Festival three times in a row at the UK Festival Awards the festival has cemented itself as one of the best boutique events in the country.

Radio 1 DJ Rob Da Bank handpicks the line-up, so fans can watch anything from international superstars to the complete unknown - but all the acts are guaranteed to captivate. Expect dance, indie and hip hop to be lined up against jazz, pop and skiffle, but most of all expect the unexpected as you're bound to find your favourite new band in there somewhere.

Over 400 live acts, DJs and comedians perform over the weekend spread between over eight tents and stage as well as hidden in the woods. The Bollywood Bar houses dance heavyweights, the Big Top has the best of live music and The Bandstand will showcase some smaller acts on traditional Victorian stage.

Quirkiness, tomfoolery and nonsense are the main appeal of the festival with the atmosphere as enjoyable as any act you'll see over the weekend. So get into that dressing up box and prepare to be pleasantly surprised.’
