 Calling all LGBT students and their allies! This
is your chance to join forces with all the other high school and
college students across the country in the fight for LGBT Equality. On
January 27th, students across the country will wear the same shirt to
school as a way to show unity within the community. This is a
visibility/fundraiser event geared towards achieving the following
goals:
* Get students more involved in the fight towards LGBT equality.
* Raise
the visibility of the LGBT movement towards equality by having everyone
wear the same shirt on the same day. We also want everyone to take
group photos of everyone at your school wearing the Students for
Equality t-shirt. Please email us at

let us know the best time and place to take the picture on your campus
(e.g. football field after school at 2:30) so that we can post it on
our site and let everyone know. Let’s try to get these pictures in
every yearbook and school newspaper across the country! Why stop there?
You can even submit them to local newspapers as well!
* Have
the event one week after the inauguration to remind Obama that we are
not going away. We are expecting him to address same-sex marriage, and
LGBT rights in general.
* Raise
money to go towards fighting to legalize marriage in the courts.
Students for Equality will be donating a portion of the proceeds to
Lambda Legal since they are currently fighting the state of California
to repeal Prop 8. Lambda Legal has also fought for LGBT equality in
many other cases, including overturning sodomy laws in the United

Now here’s the fun part. We want you to design the shirt!
That’s
right. Start getting your creative juices flowing so that you can
create a logo/design for everyone to wear on January 27th! Email us
your creation and not only will everyone be wearing your shirt, but
your design will be a part of history. Oh yeah, we’ll also be giving
the lucky winner $100! We will put the top designs on our website for
everyone to vote on. Even if you don’t submit a design, make sure you
come to the website so that you can vote on what you get to wear!

12/05/08 – Start working on your t-shirt designs!
12/21/08 – Deadline for submitting your design. Send them to

12/31/08 – Deadline for voting
1/1/09 – Start ordering your t-shirts!

– 01/26/2009 – Help out by becoming part of the street team. Promote
the event on your blogs, through facebook, myspace, passing out flyers,
etc.
01/27/09 – WEAR YOUR T-SHIRT TO SCHOOL ALL DAY AND TAKE A GROUP PHOTO!

I am a little confused about the thing with Obama. I never heard him say no against gay marrage or gay rights. On Obama's website he talks about the gay rights and Obama Pride which was a group of LGBT people who supported him. Anyways, Great idea love it actualy!
