ImageHere at GYC HQ we have been putting our heads together and looking through the fabulous amounts of content that we have planned for the coming months but have realised that its been a long time since we heard from our members! Are you a budding writer, do you have an opinion on anything affecting LGBT Youth today?  We know how many of you use our message boards and the chat rooms to voice those opinions of yours but we want you to be able to reach a wider audience.  Rob our Editor is always scouting around for the next big idea, the next great debate and wants to hear from as many of you as possible!

In the past we have featured everything from personal tales of coming out in class, to friends and family all the way through to finding a way to be Catholic and gay, even how gay characters on TV have an impact on all of our lives.  We are committed to reflecting the real on the street issues that are grabbing your attention and if we are going to achieve this we need to hear from you!

Don't worry if you are scared of having your name plastered all around the website, you can write anonymously if you'd prefer.  Or how about working with us on a more regular basis and getting a column together?  Writing for the GYC will give you a global audience and will look great on any resume, so get in touch and let’s make the GYC bigger, bolder and better for all our members!

Tho I personaly have not been on the gyc long, alot of the topics are dead on. I belive that in today's criticizing world we (LGBT) have to limit our conversations and be ever so cautious in certain social settings. And for creating a place for us to get together and be friends and share, laugh and show the sides of ourselves that we (for some) share with the world around us. For creating such a great web site I am compleatly greatful for the creators of The GYC

I really like TheGYC, its been a great social networking tool and a place to express yourself. However, its agonisingly slow to load pages, it really needs fixing as im sure it puts loads of people off!!"

Though i am out, i dont see why we have to be. Straight people dont have to announce there hetrosexuality so why do us gays? Is the hole we poke really that different that we have to state the hole we poke to everyone?

hi, thegyc is amazing, i have to agree with both dave and richierich in that it is a bit slow and that it should be easier for younger people. my main point is just that if you havent come out to your parents or even if you have, you might not want them seeing that your on "the Gay Youth Corn..." as it says in the bar at the bottom when you minimise the screen.

Hi i think the GYC is ace, to be honest it is a little slow but if you took some of the JavaScript out of the HTML code it would work faster. Regarding richerich he is right i think what needs to happen is for the GYC to start going into schools talking to head masterrs/mistresses and the students and you know help teens accept it. To be honest i can't see where all the anti-gay teen stuff has come from but if you got a few celebs on your side you'll deffo get through to younger kids, and im not talking about only going to public schools unfortunately grammar schools are never taken into account and most bullying of gays goes on here.

Well Rob, I know that since I joined The GYC back in.....2004 or 2005?? I know I've been coming out to individuals more and more. But the thing that bothers me is, I know a LOT of people who are LGBT, they are afraid of puting their picture up on the site, and then automatically no one talks to them because everyone thinks that a lot of the non picture profiles are older adults. I just wish more kids on here would feel okay with putting their picture up, because a lot of them are thinking someone from school is going to find their profile on accident and tell everyone. I don't know, maybe I'm the only one that sees this.

The lack of gay sex education in many schools is a mockery. Be it embarrassment or pure negligence, teachers seem to bypass the issue. Most of my friends both gay and straight did not receive any gay sex Ed, leaving me to play teacher (hold your filthy minds:p). I think the abundance of STDs in the community prove my point.

Certain governments will not allow gay and bi men to give blood on the basis that “Men who have sex with men continue to be disproportionately affected by HIV and account for 63% of HIV diagnoses, and have a higher diagnoses rate with other blood-borne diseases”. Donating organs and in some countries, bone marrow is also forbidden. These governments obviously acknowledge the problem, yet still fail to provide adequate gay sex education to the youth.

Definatley more public accenptance and zero tolerance on homophobia are great ideas more education is required on the matter though.. some religions here in Australia still do not permit homosexuals in their familys which results in alot of teen suisides..

schools should be a mandatory thing to educate not only youths but particularly the young offenders of the homophobic actions.

yeah the issue of homophobia in schools does need to be addressed, especially in some schools where they seem to be in denial about it being a problem, especially when you look at the problem in comprehensive schools in particular, as well as in primary schools if a child is picked on because they come from a gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender home or have relatives that are gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender. Also, something should be done to attempt to discourage homophobia being "taught" to children at a young age.

well i think we should bring the issue of gay health and acceptance in the schools and that because some people are gay they should have same rights as straight people and couples i feel if these thing are nnounced ant talked about in schools a lot more young people would be accepting

well Its just an idea:D
