ImagePoltergeists, disco queens and short circuiting foam machines goes a long way to sum up the hilarious new Halloween comedy, Poltergay released on DVD and online this October 29th.  The film is a perfectly tongue in cheek, light hearted story centering around a group of gay ghosts stuck for ever in the 1970's after a freak foam machine accident destroyed their favourite disco and killed the gay clubbers beneath the disco ball.  Bringing the action up to the modern day as a straight couple, newly engaged move into the house that was home to the gay disco the film sets itself up for a series of mischievious happenings all engineered by the limbo stuck poltergays!

These ghosts however are not interested in haunting their new house guests in order to terrify them.  Rather, they are much more concerned in doing their ironing and building a wardrobe, so long as they can dance along to Bony M in the basement and, quite literally throw wine down themselves all in the name of having a good time.

However, after taking photographs of Marc, played by Clovis Cornillac, in the shower, suspicions are aroused and the rest of the film becomes a way of understanding what the gay ghosts need in order to finally rest.  At times the film does shift from pure comedy to light hearted romance and then all the way towards family melodrama but the intentions of the story are such that you will be guaranteed an entertaining 90 minutes.

The comedy is only heightened by the fact that Marc is at first the only one to see the ghouls, sending his fiance wild with jealousy and suspicious that he is having an affair with another woman.  Tensions reach fever pitch and she walks out, leaving Marc devastated but with one trick up his sleeve, his new found ghostly gay friends.

From here on in, the film could easily be mistaken for an episode of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, as the ghosts each help Marc to win back the girl and see the error of his ways.  However, the favour is returned and with the help of a Medium, Marc manages to work out how to release the Poltergays from their pergatory.

Come this Halloween when you are indicisive about which Horror film to put on, why not grab Poltergay and enjoy a lighhearted look at how gay ghosts would haunt a house, it may not be terrifying but through the stereotypes there is great comedy and a touching story of love and friendship.

Poltergay is available to buy or rent from October the 29th 2007 or to download from  http://www.peccadillopod.com
