Petition for Same Sex Marriage Rights in Australia

Has Australia gone too far? The Marriage Amendment Bill of 2004 was drawn up to ensure that same sex partnerships were not recognised legally as marriage in Australia. This was to include those unions made in other countries outside of Australia that permitted such partnerships. The Bill defines marriage as specific to man and woman and therefore discriminates against gay and lesbian relationships. However, with the help of the GYC membership, perhaps this can be changed.

If you feel that the Australian Marriage Amendment Bill should be openly challenged and same sex relationships recognised legally as marriage then please sign the petition by clicking on the link below. Remember that we are the gay youth of the future and therefore have the power to determine how same sex relationships are determined and accepted across the world.

Hmmmmmmm. You got my vote. But I already tried convincing Kevin Rudd and talking to him about it. But he isn't going to budge. He even said so. It's pretty crappy that we lose rights though. But yeah. Good luck. :grin

That is ridiculous! If gay or lesbian people want to get married, they should be able to. This just shows what the world is coming to. i think as alot of people do everyone has the right to love whoever they want noone should be able to stop us and i will do it anyway if its not legal, just means not a piece of paper but to have that piece of paper means alot....!

Im going to be sarcastic and say, we have our own parades, our own gay bars, our own groups, our this and that, hey lets make ourselves more different by having our own unions that we will call 'kyshar'. instead the ceremony goes for 3 days and each day represents something special to the relationship with the last day sealing the relationship in a bond. If we want equal rights with everyone, we need to give other people equal rights with what we do aswell. if we dnt want to be excluded we have to stop seperating ourselves and be including ourselves.
