"You can't ask for the kind of support I've gotten from my gay audience," Spears says. "It's extraordinary."
From early in her career, Spears forged an alliance with the gay community that have remained faithful to her in her transition from teen into womanhood. Not since Madonna has a pop icon generated such buzz in the gay community. "You can't ask for the kind of support I've gotten from my gay audience," Spears says. "It's extraordinary." It's also enhanced her personal life. "Well, gay clubs are the best places to hit if you want to be exposed to cool new music. My gay friends are like my best girlfriends. We go shopping and hang and just have a blast. My best gay-male friend will tell me straight up about anything, like 'Girlfriend, those pants are making your butt look BIG.' You've gotta love that kind of honesty."
Britney Spears, is she the heiress to Madonna’s throne of Pop Goddess? Sure she’s had to duel against the likes of Jessica Simpson and Christina Aguilera. But the fact is neither of the aforementioned have the staying power that Britney has. Sure Christina and Jessica have incredible voices, but, Britney is an industry herself. She’s an entertainer. That’s what is so incredible about this young woman. She lives to entertain, and her fans on the whole have stayed true her, through thick and thin. Being pals with the gay community’s number one goddess can’t be harming her at all. Fans are ready to accept Britney as their princess into the community with open arms.
'Girlfriend, those pants are making your butt look BIG.'
Recently, The Onyx Hotel tour pushed Spears’ sexy new image to the max. Since playing tongue tennis with Madge, Britney hasn’t been afraid to flirt with the ideas of raunchy same-sex antics.
Scantily clad men gyrating against eachother on stage, ladies groping on beds, the tour was deemed unruly and disgusting. The tour was announced a failure by the paparazzi on a whole. Shame they don’t get their facts straight, figures showed that in The United Kingdom, Scotland & Ireland Spears sold 96.3% of her tickets.
"Let's face it, gay guys are more deeply in touch with their emotions," she says. "They're more open, and they're not fearful of revealing their hearts.”
Hype hit the scene when news spread that Britney was to perform her latest hit ‘Me Against The Music’ in London’s very own nightclub G-A-Y with none other then Madonna. With tickets going for as much as £150 to see this one performance, surely it would be a night to remember. But alas, they women pulled out last minute due to Britney coming down with the flu. Her gay fans however remain true and show little resentment. “Sure I was disappointed, but as long as she got better that’s all that mattered. The tour was amazing and made up for that one let down.”
With ever changing looks, ideas, sounds and headline grabbing antics things seem to be shaping up for Britney to become our next reigning princess of pop. Only registered users can write comments. Please login or register. Add as favourites (5) | Quote this article on your site
