ImageAs the summer winds on and despite over here in the UK, the sun seems to have abandoned us, the summer music festivals are still pushing the very best music on offer from across the globe.  Here at the GYC we are excited about arguably the best festival to champion the most diverse and exciting music whilst creating a truly eclectic atmosphere celebrating difference and all things cool.  Bestival is nearly upon us and there have been some recent additions to the already fantastic line up.

Bestival has become well known for its unique creativity, innovation and darned right cheekiness. The three day world of "utter escapism takes festival lovers into the realms of surreal adventure"  - Not only does Bestival stand out with its most brilliant array of bands, DJ’s and performances the festival is renowned for the eye-catching bespoke arenas and delectable designs of Josie da Bank that breathe magical life into every corner of the Bestival globe.

Bestival are over the moon to announce that The BBC is to host a stage this year, featuring some of the best new acts on the planet and live DJ sets from Radio 1’s star collective.  The BBC Introducing… tent will host an awe-inspiring selection of up-and-coming artists – including Jack Peñate, Foals, Architecture In Helsinki and I Like Trains – at the award-winning festival of fun on the Isle of Wight in September.

The 1000-capacity venue picks up where the ‘Rock n Roll Tent’ left off last year, as the prime destination for great new music championed by festival curator and Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank and located in the centre of the festival site.  Highlights of the performances will also be available to listen to on new music shows across BBC Radio and to watch online after the festival.  The announcement follows the success of the BBC Introducing… stage at this year’s Glastonbury Festival and is part of the BBC’s continuing commitment to supporting new music.
Bestival is a three day boutique music festival set at Robin Hill on the heart of the Isle of Wight from 7th-9th September.  The festival was born out of ten years of pioneering music events and record releases from Rob da Bank's Sunday Best empire. The BBC Radio 1 leftfield DJ had a dream to one day create his vision of how the modern day festival should be and so Bestival is the realisation of that ambition.
The GYC will be on the ground covering all of this truly great festival and urging those of you who can make it next year to get involved and head along to the most inclusive and diverse festivals on offer in the UK.

The first Bestival, in September 2004, was headlined by Basement Jaxx, Fatboy Slim, Zero 7, The Bees, Mylo and Lee 'Scratch' Perry and was a ground-breaking success. Bestival 2005 was voted the Best (Medium-sized) Festival and the Most Innovative Festival (by the festival-going public) at the 2005 UK Festival Awards. Bestival 2006 was headlined by Scissor Sisters, Gogol Bordello and Pet Shop Boys and won Best Medium Sized Festival category at the 2006 UK Festival Awards.
