channel 4 logo2007 sees the 40th Anniversary of the Decriminalisation of Homosexuality in the UK; as part of a special season of programmes, Channel 4 is examining just how much has changed, 40 years on.  From debate shows through to cutting edge drama and documentary, the channel is hoping to discover what, if anything has evolved for gay men living their lives on a daily basis.  Here at the GYC we are keen to learn from the front line of the next generation of the gay community just how much you feel has changed.  Are there still legitimate reasons to protest for greater liberation?  What steps can be taken to encourage equality?  How much are you concerned with the future for the lgbt community?  Constantly we are told that being gay is more socially acceptable, that civil partnerships are fantastic progress and that the media is the most supportive it has ever been for re-imagining the gay steretype, how much is this true?!

Here is your chance to have your say on all of the above and more.  Please comment on the site by posting below, or if you would rather, by emailing Rob at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .  Growing up gay has always presented itself with many obstacles even in the most perfect situation of support from family and friends but has anything changed for young gay and lesbian teens?  The very nature of coming out still brings with it many awkward conversations and feelings of difference amongst peers but are we able to take these first steps of identity definition without fear of persecution in today's society?

Finally, how much do gay politics and legal battles interest you?  Do you see yourself as a campaigner or merely a supporter of the campaigns that many battle in court and take to national governement?  Furthermore, do you think that the UK should be spreading its increasing liberal attitudes across seas and to those countries where being gay is still illegal?  Should we now be proud of the many battles won in this country and aid those gay and lesbian individuals persectued in their own country overseas?

As always, we here at the GYC always want your feedback and opinion, so get in touch, we would love to hear from you!
