My friends were planning to go to donate blood one day a few weeks back, but when I found out about this rule, I was dead set against it.

I just can't believe that the Health Service, who are always badgering people to donate blood because there isn't enough in the blood banks, would discriminate against a huge section of society.

What's the problem with screening each batch of blood for HIV or STIs? If there is an infection in the blood, then fair enough. But making an assumption that all gay people are promiscuous is just disgusting.

At least give us a chance to save a life.
