It's different in Australia
It's funny, I live in Australia and they don't have that law anymore, because HIV and AIDS keeps popping up in heterosexual men and women. Once they've taken blood from you, there is an extremely simple test they put the blood through to see whether or not you have any blood-carried diseases, including HIV and AIDS.
The only reason they let that law pass in the first place was because back then hardly anything was known about these particular diseases. All they have to do nowadays is look at the blood under a microscope, and that's it!
Anyway, donated blood goes through so many tests before it is actually given to a patient, that it would be impossible for them to miss it. I plan to donate blood once I'm old enough. I'm B-, the second-rarest blood type.
So if you really want to donate blood, just come down to Australia!
