I bought and read it as well. It's a good read, but I'm disappointed that it left too many unanswered questions. I also didn't like how the author dodges these questions with a sappy or dramatic event. 
 
The whole gay issue becomes secondary in the book, but I wanted more depth to how each character handles it, because just like superpowers, this issue still plays a very crucial role. Hurray for metaphorical X-Men movies. 
 
But yes, I would recommend it to people and I enjoyed it very much.
