A very interesting well critten column...
However I think you can get too hung up on titles.

).
Of course not advocating the use of clearly offensive words.... but perhaps more crucial than the word is how says it and how. Plenty use the expression of "Fag Hag", yet to call someone a "Fag" is so very bad. Its a tough one.
"A gay by any other word would be as fabulous." - Popsicle
