You really hit the nail on the head! Personally I dont stand up for myself when someone says "Omg thats so gay". Tho I used to say "Not...literally....its just the tree" ya know? Point out the ridiculousness of it all! Instead of saying "That cat is being gay" say "That cat is certinly being odd today." Full sentence, all sense.
