 Somethin Else, a television production company, is conducting
background research with help from The GYC for a TV documentary about
what it's like to grow up gay in Britain. As part of our research we
would like to hear from young people (under-16s) about their
experiences of being gay and at school in the UK.

 (2).jpg "Image") It is a pleasure to be reviewing a film that manages to have gay characters throughout that don’t stand out, aren’t reliant upon camp or merely included for comedy effect. Avril, the latest release from Peccadillo Pictures is a touching light hearted look at how a person can change their destiny when passion is unlocked. Directed by Gérald Hustache-Mathieu and starring Sophie Quinton as Avril, a young nun about to take her eternal vows, the film is a heart warming tale of siblings separated at birth and what happens when they finally find each other.

 We here at the GYC are planning some exciting updates to the website to make it bigger, bolder and brighter for all of our members. You can expect to see a bold, fresher looking site design with clearer content and greater focus on the rich diversity of our members alongside improved interaction with other members and the GYC team. However, before we can impress you all with great new features we want to hear from you! Yes that's right, you! The GYC is nothing without the passion that comes from all of you for making the site the most exciting place for young LGBT guys'n'gals to spend time on the internet. So give us your opinions, tell us what you think works and what you think we're missing! As an added incentive, from all those that complete the questionnaire, we have 5 copies of the soon to be released film, A Touch of Pink, "a hilarious screwball comedy" starring Jimi Mistry (recently reviewed on the site). We shall draw from random 5 member profiles from those that have completed the survey and get in touch with you individually! |

This week, Pride London's Youth @ Pride group have sent an open letter to the ten uniformed UK youth services inviting them to take part in the parade at London Pride next month. They are hoping that by marching alongside the many LGBT organisations and individuals they will show their commitment to combating homophobia and transphobia. 
There is an increasing concern amongst the gay community about the number of young LGBT youths self harming. There has been plenty of awareness raised focussing on the age group most likely to self harm but little has been done to look specifiically at the incidence rate in the gay community, Until now. The GYC has teamed up with LifeSIGNS, Self Injury Guidance & Network Support who have kindly written the article that contines below. Here at the GYC we are passionately interested in all of the issues that face young LGBT youths as they make their decisions in life and come out to those around them. Should you have any concerns for a friend, or just need some advice yourself then please do not hesitate to get in touch with LifeSIGNS directly, or the GYC who will gladly point you in the direction of any relevant advice.
